I don't know if this will be of help to you but a few years ago I went to the Fentress Co. TN Lib. and they had a book/booklet on the Arney's. One of my ancestors married into that group but off the top of my head I can't remember which one. The book had a great deal of inf. on the local Arneys. Maybe this wilol be of some help. Was Tryon County, North Carolina around Winston-Salem? If so, check the Moravian settlement there. They had good genealogical records and the Arneys might be of that group. Just a thought. Gary D.
