There is a Martha E. Irwin (b. April 1868), which may well be the one and the same as the Mattie who was married to James T. Knight since the birth month and years are the same and Mattie is a nickname for Martha. This Martha Irwin's father, John H. Irwin (b. November 27, 1833, d. April 29, 1905) is buried at the Smyrna Cemetery in Pickett County, which is also the same cemetery that Mattie and James Tobias Knight are buried in. This is the info I have on the John H.
