I'm researching my family name, Arney, and have been doing so since the early 1980's. I know many have come before, and pray many will come after me. My branch of the Arneys arrived in Tennessee in about 1802, with Peter Arney. He settled in Overton County, Tennessee which over the years, the boundaries of the counties changed. Peter's son was Matthew Arney, Sr. born around 1818, Matthew, Sr.'s. son was William Ervin Arney born about 1841. William Ervin's son was Opha Jouett Arney born in 1875. Opha Jouett's son was Stanley Goble Arney, born in 1909. Stanley Goble's son was Jerry Kenneth Arney who was born in 1938. Jerry Kenneth Arney's son was Stanley Allen Arney, me. I'm looking for definitive tangible proof of each of my Arney ancestors existence. This means searching for things like their tombstones or gravesites, homes, pictures or photographs or portraits or paintings, wills, marriages, births records, de! ath records, tax records, etc. Anything that proves they existed besides just a name and people have to take my word for it, if you know what I mean. I would appreciate any help anyone can provide and would especially like to talk to anyone else doing Arney genealogy research. Thank you for your time consideration and cooperation, I appreciate it.
