Hi, We know that Matthew Arney, Sr. was born in 1818 and died in 1902. We know that Matthew Arney, Sr.s father was Peter Arney (1772-1845). We know that one of Matthew Arney, Sr.s sons was William Ervin Arney (1841-1887). I need to find definitive tangible proof of Matthew Arney, Sr.s existence. Matthew Arney, Sr. was born and died in Tennessee, yet I cannot find any census that has him on it, can any of you? I can find censuses with his father, Peter Arney, and I can find censuses with his son William Ervin Arney, but I cannot find one Census with Matthew Arney, Sr. on it. I know finding Matthew Arney, Sr.s gravestone or gravesite is probably impossible. If it even still exists it is probably marked by a simple cross, therefore impossible to know for certain if it is his. However, I guess I can use a copy of a census with Matthew Arney, Sr. listed on it, as my definitive tangible proof. If any of you have or can direct me to any census that lists Matthew Arney, Sr. on it, I would be extremely grateful. Thank you for your time, consideration, and cooperation, I deeply appreciate it.
