I can look them up and if MARY is still alive in 1910 she may be living with one of her children. Milly WARD Piros My mind is lightning one brilliant flash and pooooffffffffffffffffffffff it's gone. Buried along with him in this cemetery is his second wife Fannie Jane and son Maynard. Where is Mary Ellen? Did they divorce or did she died? Can't find her in the census after 1900. Eleanor Loftis
You may try Overton County records. Pickett County was formed from Overton and Fentress countys in 1879. I would like to thank everyone who replied to my request for information. After visiting the Tennessee State Library and Archives site, I can see there is absolutely no Pickett County marriage information available for the time period that I need!! I guess I'll have to be satisfied with the only information that I have -- "they were married about 1882 in Pickett County Tennessee" -- and be happy that I know at least that much about my grandparents marital status!!! My grandparents were married about 1882 in Pickett County. Does anyone know if marriage license information is available for that period of time?? Eva
My great grandma PERMELIA MILLER RICHARDSON DELK was apparently married to a RICHARDSON. But I have no idea who he was. They were in Fentress Co. The info came from the will of ABNER MILLER, he listed his daughter as PERMELIA RICHARDSON. I am assuming maybe he died in the Civil War....But have no proof PERMELIA was listed as BEMELIA MILLER age 12 in 1850. 1860 she was listed as PERMELIA A MILLER age 21. By 1870 she was married to my grgrandpa LEMUEL DELK and they a child age 1 yr. Milly WARD Piros My mind is lightning one brilliant flash and pooooffffffffffffffffffffff it's gone. I had in my notes the following, I think I got this information about a year ago. I thought your name was familiar! <G> The following information was received from Willie R. Beaty From the Autobiography of A. B Wright, a circuit-riding Methodist preacher who wrote in his journal events that were occurring during this time. On pp. 44-45: "On the cold evening of October 24th [1862], Tinker Beatty, with about one hundred men, made a raid through our settlement, and killed, at the Poore place near us, a Confederate soldier named Milligan, and fatally wounded another, Henry Richardson. On that night a snow one foot deep fell." I read somewhere another version where he was killed in front of his wife, that Henry made it home and was recuperating from wounds from a battle??? And that his son Oscar was only a few months old at the time, and so his wife changed Oscar's name to Henry Oscar in memory of her dead husband. I am looking for that record to see where it came from. Willie, Will Richardson was my husband's Great Uncle. Will had a brother Roy Oscar who was my husband's grandfather. Roy O. is buried in Muncie, Indiana. I talked with my father in law, and he is curious as to where Henry Oscar Richardson, (Will and Roy's father) may be buried. So if you come across that name let me know. Again a BIG thanks to you and everyone else who has been helping me! Gina Richardson
Willie, William Madison Richardson was the son of Henry Oscar & Mary Ann (Wood) Richardson, and Yes he is in my husband's family line. Mary Ann Wood Richardson is supposedly buried in New Hope Cemetery. I talked with my Father in law and he said The Richardson's "Lived" in the Wolf River area, but are not buried in the Wolf River cemetery. John H. Richardson died abt.1848 in Wolf River, Abigail Richardson died after 1860 My husband's direct line is through John and Abigail's son Henry H. Richardson & Mary Gray Richardson. Henry H. Richardson was supposedly killed by the David Tinker Beaty gang, on March 26, 1863. I am pretty much interested in any Richardson information, because they all pretty much tie in together. Is it possible for me to come and take photos of the cemetery on your land?? Thank you for all your help. Gina, I looked in the Fentress County Cemetery book and found Richardsons, but none in the Wolf River Cemetery (up to publication of the book in 1988). I live on a farm that adjoins Richardson property that belonged to Will Richardson, born Feb 5 1886 and died May 21 1967. He and several other family members are buried in the Albertson Cemetery, which is located on my farm. Would this Richardson family be any of what you're looking for? There are Richardsons buried in Fentress Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, King Cemetery, New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Stephen H Pile Cemetery (Stoke Richardson), Taylor Place Cemetery, and one Richardson buried in Unknown Cemetery. The Stephen H. Pile Cemetery is a small family cemetery in Wold River area. Could it be the one you're looking for rather than Wolf River Cemetery? I will be happy to give you the names of those buried in any of these cemeteries if you think they might be your family members? Specifically, what names are you looking for, and about what time frame would they have been buried? In a message dated 12/5/2004 8:09:17 PM Pacific Standard Time, richardson69@comcast.net writes: My husband's Richardson family were from Jamestown. And that is what was confusing me, I have heard Wolf River mentioned, but thought for Fentress county, but then I read somewhere else about Wolf River Church being in Overton or Pickett. I knew his Richardson line was more from the Fentress area. Gina, I don't know if this will be of any help. My mother had a cousin who was married to Malcolm Richardson. He died a number of years ago. His wife Vida(sp?) is still living near Jamestown. I met her and one of her sons at a funeral there a few years ago. He had some interesting stories to tell about the Garrett line (mine and his mothers). I don't know her address or telephone number, but I suspect it is listed in the Jamestown section of the phone book. If you do call her you can tell her I suggested it. My name is Norma Kleitsch, she may not remember me, but she will remember my mother Virgie Garrett Lindsay. Let me know if they are able to help. Norma
Willie, Thank you for the directions. I am hoping we can get to Jamestown within the next few weeks. I am hoping to find Richardson's in the Wolf River Cemetery. I didn't include that surname with my previous post, I am absent minded tonight <G>. My husband's Richardson family were from Jamestown. And that is what was confusing me, I have heard Wolf River mentioned, but thought for Fentress county, but then I read somewhere else about Wolf River Church being in Overton or Pickett. I knew his Richardson line was more from the Fentress area. Thanks again for the directions. I printed them out! I am working on the Tompkins and Jones families. Joseph and Mary Jenkins Tompkins and Abram and Sarah Taylor Jones, and their descendants. I was interested in Tompkins, Anderson Jones, Griffin-Lee, and Wolf River Cemeteries. These cemeteries have been mentioned in family records as the burial place for several of these family members. I was told earlier this evening that Wolf River is in Fentress County. I was wanting to find out where these cemeteries are located, and if they can still be accessed. And the best way to get to them. I want to plan a trip to them so I can take photos. I have never been to Pickett or Overton County, and will be coming from Knoxville. I have only been to Fentress County once and that was a very long time ago. I just moved to Knoxville about 4 months ago from Indiana, so I am "Directionally Challenged" <G> Any information or directions for these cemeteries will be greatly appreciated.
