    3. Melissa, If you do not charge for the look ups would you please check your 1930 census for the Richard Beaty family. Richard would have been about 81 years old. He would have been a widow, so may be living with some of family members. Am also looking for the Patrick Henry Beaty family. Patrick was born May 21, 1897 and his wife was Mabel Conatser. They had children: Kenneth, abt 13, Guy, abt 11, Georgia Letha, abt 9, and Wanda Merea, abt 6. Thanks so much, will save me a trip to the library, which is not exactly close. 1. Joseph Ezekiel Gilpatrick
    2. Jean, you might ask for a lookup for Joseph Ezekiel Gilpatrick's sister's death certificate. She was Nannie Jane Gilpatrick Smith Collins (b. October 15, 1861, d. April 22, 1934, buried at Flat Creek Cemetery, Overton County, TN). She married James Smith and C. Willis (Willis) Collins. Since she died in 1934, there may be a death certificate available for her. Below is the information that was Overton County News archives website where they show history from 70 years ago each week (_http://www.overtoncountynews.com/archives2004/history04-28-2004.html_ (http://www.overtoncountynews.com/archives2004/history04-28-2004.html) ) Mrs. Nannie Gilpatrick Collins, 74, wife of C. Willis Collins, died at her home two miles south of Livingston, Monday, as the result of a fall about six years ago. She had not been able to walk for a broken hip and had suffered too much, her condition growing worse for the past several months. She was an excellent woman, a faithful member of the Church of Christ since her girlhood, a kind, helpful neighbor, affectionate companion, and a kind mother. Her maiden name was Nannie Gilpatrick and she was born and reared near Livingston and spent her life in this county. She was twice married, first to James Smith, about fifty years ago. Her first husband having died many years ago, she subsequently married C. Willis Collins on February 10, 1889, and he survives. To this union were born two children, Walter Collins and Pearl, wife of Erby Ledbetter, of Coal Creek, who with a number of grandchildren, survive her. She is also survived by Mrs. Elizabeth G. Ogletree, widow of the late W. Campbell Ogletree. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday at the residence and at the Flatt Creek cemetery by Albert V. Watkins, of the Church of Christ. Burial was in the Flatt Creek cemetery. You may also check the death certificate for this sister, Mary Elizabeth Gilpatrick Ogletree (b. November 02, 1852, d. January 02, 1936, buried at Reason Ogletree Cemetery, Overton County, TN) she married William Campbell Ogletree. Since both of these sisters died in the 1930s, their mother's name should be on the death certificate. I have her first name from the census record, but do not have their mother's maiden name. Surnames: Ernigh, Earney, Arney, etc. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VgB.2ACE/642 Message Board Post: Hi, I'm new to this forum, so I will try to be brief. I'm researching my family name, Arney, and have been doing so since the early 1980's. I know many have come before, and pray many will come after me. My branch of the Arneys arrived in Tennessee in about 1802, with Peter Arney. He settled in Overton County, Tennessee which over the years, the boundaries of the counties changed. Peter's son was Matthew Arney, Sr. born around 1818, Matthew, Sr.'s. son was William Ervin Arney born about 1841. William Ervin's son was Opha Jouett Arney born in 1875. Opha Jouett's son was Stanley Goble Arney, born in 1909. Stanley Goble's son was Jerry Kenneth Arney who was born in 1938. Jerry Kenneth Arney's son was Stanley Allen Arney, me. I'm looking for definitive tangible proof of each of my Arney ancestors existence. This means searching for things like their tombstones or gravesites, homes, pictures or photographs or portraits or paintings, wills, marriages, births records, de! ath records, tax records, etc. Anything that proves they existed besides just a name and people have to take my word for it, if you know what I mean. I would appreciate any help anyone can provide and would especially like to talk to anyone else doing Arney genealogy research. Thank you for your time consideration and cooperation, I appreciate it.

    2. Willie, I have a picture of that church if anyone is interested. I have been there every Memorial Day weekend for the last 6 or 7 years. Fanny Harmon is my cousin. Marsha mrmfamily@aol.com In a message dated 6/28/2005 4:34:32 P.M. Central Standard Time, wbeaty@twlakes.net writes: Betty, Here is what I have on the Williams Chapel Cemetery. I believe the source is the Pickett County Cemetery Book, Gone but not Quite Forgotten, by Richard Pierce. I would need to check that to be sure. "On Dec 17, 1904 in a deed from F. A. Williams, the ground was purchased for the Williams Chapel Cemetery. F. Alex Williams ws the son of William F. Williams. He was born to William F. and his first wife. It is presumed that this property was some of the original tract purchased in 1868 by William F. In any event, the deed states that William Frances prucheased the ground to be used for the cemetery. The deed was for 6 acres, more or less, and states that no fence was to be put across the road running the by parson's door leading down through toward Kerney's on the south. Some of the first graves in the cemetery were Jesse Kerney, Austin Nichols, Dory Kerney, and Hawk Davidson. William Frances Williams died and was buried in the cemetery on August 9, 1918. Fanny Harmon is present treasurer of the cemetery fund. She is also treasurer for the perpetual care fund of the Pickett County Bank. This is to assure that the cemetery will continue to be taken care of in future ears." -written by Jean Beatty. I may have a picture of the church somewhere, but will have to look for it. I think the church, which stands beside the cemetery in the old Williams Chapel community of Pickett County TN, was established a little later, but I may have that wrong. Will see what I can find. Willie
