    3. Dear Milly Piros, Thank you so very much for your quick reply, I deeply appreciate it. I'm trying to finalize the information I have regarding my branch of the Arneys, to place on my website. I was looking for definitive tangible proof to post, visuals are so important, especially over the Internet, and hopefully it will be a stepping stone for others to start or continue their research. I will have to get copies of those Censuses. Yes, that has to be Matthew, Sr. since he was born in 1818. Thank you once again I deeply appreciate it. 1. Matthew Arney Sr born 1818 died 1902 on any Census
    2. Stan Arney
    3. Hi, We know that Matthew Arney, Sr. was born in 1818 and died in 1902. We know that Matthew Arney, Sr.’s father was Peter Arney (1772-1845). We know that one of Matthew Arney, Sr.’s sons was William Ervin Arney (1841-1887). I need to find definitive tangible proof of Matthew Arney, Sr.’s existence. Matthew Arney, Sr. was born and died in Tennessee, yet I cannot find any census that has him on it, can any of you? I can find censuses with his father, Peter Arney, and I can find censuses with his son William Ervin Arney, but I cannot find one Census with Matthew Arney, Sr. on it. I know finding Matthew Arney, Sr.’s gravestone or gravesite is probably impossible. If it even still exists it is probably marked by a simple cross, therefore impossible to know for certain if it is his. However, I guess I can use a copy of a census with Matthew Arney, Sr. listed on it, as my definitive tangible proof. If any of you have or can direct me to any census that lists Matthew Arney, Sr. on it, I would be extremely grateful. Thank you for your time, consideration, and cooperation, I deeply appreciate it. Stanley Arney Wichita, KS Researching my Arney heritage, looking for definitive tangible proof of each of their existence, so we KNOW the truth and can share it with others. 3. Lincoln Co. Court of Ps & Qs, October 1787 - Peter Arney age 15, orphan of Jacob Arney, bound unto Jacob Fullenwider Does anyone have any detailed information on this court proceeding? Do we know where Peter grew up, at that time? Where was he living? I know this sounds like rehashing old information, but in order to back track Peter's life, it must be confirmed or denied. I know you must think that I dwell too much on Peter Arney's father, Jacob, and perhaps I do. At this time he is the "broken link". Jacob Arney, for the most part is an unknown. We cannot say for certain that he is the same Jacob Arney who left his will in NC, although all tangible proof seems to lead in that direction. Let's assume that he is the one and same Jacob Arney, who died in Lincoln County, NC in 1784. Now, how do we back track Jacob Arney's life? We know that this Jacob Arney passed away in Lincoln County, NC. We know that Peter Arney was born in Tryon County (which became Lincoln County), North Carolina. Is this merely a coincidence? Let's assume it is not. How do we trace Jacob Arney's past, has anyone done this? If so, please enlighten me, so that I may find the definitive tangible proof I seek, so I can say with surety that this is our Jacob Arney. Then maybe we will know where he came from and work even further back in time. Most of us have decided that Frederick Ernigh is now NOT part of our direct Arney branch. Knowing that, we must find out more about our own Jacob Arney. Where he came from and who were his ancestors. Thank you for your time, consideration, and cooperation in this matter. Sincerely, Stanley Arney Wichita, KS Researching my Arney heritage, looking for definitive tangible proof of each of their existence, so we KNOW the truth and can share it with others. 1. Arneys known and unknowns
    2. Stan Arney
    3. Hi, Please note, just because a lot of people believe something is true or a fact, does NOT make it a fact, until it is a proven fact backed up by definitive tangible proof. In order to find the truth sometimes we have to reflect on what we do know, instead of what we do NOT know. I can trace my branch of the Arneys, in Tennessee as follows: Jerry Kenneth Arney (my father) s/o Stanley Goble Arney s/o Opha Jouett Arney s/o William Irvin Arney s/o Matthew Arney, Sr. s/o Peter Arney. s/o = son of Peter Arney was born in 1772 in Tryon County, North Carolina. He moved to Wythe County, Virginia in 1790 where he married and began his family. Finally, after 1800 he moved to Overton County, Tennessee where he settled and died in 1845. These are the facts that I can say with reasonable assurance, meaning these are the facts that we know to be true. Peter Arney’s father however, at this time is not a known fact, but an unknown fact. We know that Peter was born in Tryon County, North Carolina, so unless his father was deceased at the time, we can reasonably assume that his father was living in Tryon County, North Carolina as well in 1772. Facts that we do know about a Jacob Arney living in or near Tryon County, North Carolina around the same time are as follows: we know that a Jacob Arney left a will dated 1782, and that the original will still resides in the North Carolina State Archives. We also know that the same Jacob Arney passed away in 1784. From what can be read of his will, he names his wife Elizabeth, and his children (in general, not by specific name). He signs his name with the spelling Jacob Arney. We know that Peter Arney was an orphan along with his sister Catherine when Peter was 15 (or around 1787). This would coincide with the death of Jacob Arney around 1784, if Jacob Arney’s wife, Elizabeth had passed away, that would leave Peter an orphan. These are the known facts, now we just have to look into our unknowns and make them known facts as well, specifically finding out who Jacob Arney really was, where he came from, etc. I appreciate any and all information I receive and I thank you for your time, consideration, and cooperation in this matter. 3. Lisa, Thanks for responding to my query about Paul D. Koger. I am trying to see if/what is the connection between him and my own Kogers, who came from VA to Wayne and Clinton Counties KY and later into TN. My Koger connection is my grandmother Sally Koger, dau. of James Wolford and Lodema Thomas Riley. James, son of Andeson Koger and Agnes Crouch; Anderson son of Thomas Koger and Lois Majors; Thomas, son of Nicholas Koger and Dorothy ??; etc.backward. Do any of these ancestors of mine relate to Paul D.? Richard would have been about 81 years old. He would have been a widow, so may be living with some of family members. Am also looking for the Patrick Henry Beaty family. Patrick was born May 21, 1897 and his wife was Mabel Conatser. They had children: Kenneth, abt 13, Guy, abt 11, Georgia Letha, abt 9, and Wanda Merea, abt 6. Thanks so much, will save me a trip to the library, which is not exactly close. Willie
