    3. In the last 3 weeks I have entertained a son and daughter-in-law from VA, moved all my geneal. data from one computer to another (had no idea it would take days!!), packed up and moved another son to UT Knoxville, did my inservice, and started school. We've had 7 school days in which I had 1 new student who has already left, and 3 new students that were unexpected. As a special ed teacher, each new student means paperwork and the designing of his own personal curriculum. Treading water has finally ended and I think I'm actually headed to shore. Thanks for all your patience and helping to answer each other's questions, etc. Will be updating web site in next hour or so and hopefully everything got moved over correctly and when I finish the sites will still be there, but if not you'll know what happened and that I'm frantically trying to redo!! I, for one committee member, was exhausted after 6 weeks of final preparations and had to come right home to finish preparations for a family reunion the following weekend. Had to rest a little. DCH was grand. I think that I speak for all who attended in saying that everyone had a good time. There were folks from TN, KY, AR, MS, OH, and as far away as Washington State.....to name a few. The attendance was about 60 which was a little down from the previous year....but the rest of us made up for those absent!!! There was laughing...story telling....kidding....visiting....exchanging information....making new friends.....renewing old friendships that were started last year.....it was like a great big family reunion. One first time attendee went away saying that she felt like she was leaving family! What a testimony! This year's workshops were a terrific addition....jan had EVERYONE acting really crazy with her Appalachian storytelling....Ranger Jobe came from Ft. Donelson and gave us alot of information on the battles of Ft. Henry, Ft. Donelson, Dover, and Johnsonville. He answered questions as long as they were asked.....M.T. talked to us about surviving in the 'old days'.....Mr. Buchanan taught us how log cabins were built and brought examples of some of the old tools.....Mattie Childers entertained us royally with her Appalachian stories...then jan finished up with a workshop for prospective list owners... Oh the food....that's another story....on Saturday night for the banquet we had southern-fried catfish, fried okra, white beans, slaw, potato salad, key-lime pie....it was all mouth-watering good.....don't think anyone went away hungry... As for the weather...it was HOT in Tennessee...but that is to be expected....with the exception of one short shower on Saturday morning, the skies were blue with not a cloud in sight....there was a pretty good breeze at night....I think that all who wanted to go cemetery-tromping got to without difficulty.... Most of the area historical/genealogical societies took part at one time or the other. All the area libraries were open and had volunteers on hand to help out. I think it would be fair to say that everyone found something....a new cousin/friend, a cemetery, a grave, a marriage certificate, a missing date....something to aid in their search..... Don Simmons was present with his books for the entire event. He was a virtual treasure trove of information for many lucky researchers. Well, I have rambled enough.....hope this helps....I'll be glad to attempt to answer any questions... Have a great weekend! 1. [TNPERRY] Hendrix/Odle
    2. I just found another Decatur/Perry County connection. William P. Hendrix married Lucinda Odle in Perry County in December of 1871. William is the brother of Newt Hendrix. Does anyone have any information on Lucinda Odle? I'd like to find out where William and Lucinda were living in 1870. They were each probably living with their own families prior to their marriage, but I don't know where William and his family were living in 1870. In 1850 and 1860, they were in Decatur County. In 1880, Newt was living in Decatur County with his wife, children, mother and youngest brother. I don't know where William was living in 1880. By 1900, William and Newt had both moved to Dyer County, Tennessee (after living in Arkansas for awhile). 1870 is still a mystery to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 1. [TNPERRY] New to list
    2. Hello all, I've just joined the list. My grandmother was born on Coon Creek in Perry County. Her maiden name was McDonald. Other Perry County names in my direct ancestry are Barber, Dabbs and Dotson (Dodson). Also does anyone know when the McDonald Funeral Home in Hohenwald was founded. I believe that owners of this home are relatives of mine. I also understand that there are books that have records from the funeral homes in them. What time periods does this cover?
