Gosh good to hear from you. I am going to need all the help I can get on this lineage. And please feel free to contact me as I work through it next week. This is the line of the four Langford's that settled in Jackson/Overton County 1814-1830 That I know the least about. Together we can solve it. What is established by DNA testing is that Stephen and James who lived in Jackson/Clay County and their older brother Matthew ( born 1775) are brothers, all sons of Eli Sr. (born ca 1744 location unknown d. ca 1822-4 TN) Rufus Wiley Langford who's line I just posted to about 1860 was DNA tested and proved out to be from the Henry Langford Sr lineage who settled first 1786 in Franklin County GA, and then moved to Greenville Co S.C. about 1792 and died ca 1794 in Greenville Co S.C. This DNA test matched a line that now reaches to Bandera Texas. Is John ( Jack) part of either of these two very different blood lines? It remains unknown until DNA test is performed. Never the less we can look for documents, land deeds, service records, marriage bonds, tax list and etc. We ALL are able to start the wheels forward, Children and their children. . I have no idea what the earliest known record of this John ( Jack) Langford is? ( born ca 1788 S.C) Note: Birth date and place are based on census data. Maybe we can reach back in our record box and pull out those defiles. I will try over the weekend, post the first generations of john (Jack) Langford, and then ask every one to add to it, correct it and etc.. You monition SMITH MAhulda Smith daughter of William Smith of Overton co TN. married Joshua B. LAngofrd son of James Langford about 1844 in Overton Co. By 1851 they had moved to MO. Is that part of your family? Rose c . , June 19, 2008 10:22 AM Subject: Re: [TNOVERTO] LANGFORD > Good Morning....
