I'm not sure if there is a connection or not. My Elijah was born abt. 1833. Your great grandmother would have been considerably younger than him. The James in this suit would surely have been an adult in 1867. Elijah was listed in the Hilham post office district in the 1860 census. There are two neighboring households that are Browns. I've had some hint from something I found on Rootsweb site a few years ago, that Nathaniel Brown might be his father. Sometime between 1867 and 1870, Elijah moved his family to Van Buren County Arkansas. I'd be very interested to know what happened to his farm in Overton County. Where was it located? Did any of his family stay in the area or did they scatter westward? There might be a connection between your Ellender and my Browns, I just don't know what it is. I am a bit more interested din your family? As i do have a bit of data on Overton County, There also is a History book at the Livingston, Overton County Library in Livingston TN."History of Overton County" Some time in the past a group of family historians got together and compiled a short history of their families. the book was in its 3rd printing in about 2001. I don't know if they reprinted it since then. there also a Book called "Overton Roll call" which list names of people who have passed and where their final resting place is in Overton County.
