Hello everyone... My name is Robin Taylor, and I've been researching my family tree for several years now. (Taylor/Payne/MacCarrell are in my paternal line) Unfortunately, there have been quite a few roadblocks...by way of finding erroneous information (lots and lots of that erroneous info came from Ancestry.com); or worse yet, none at all. Verifiable information has proven quite hard to find so far. Following are the facts I can verify to at least a 90% certainty: My grandfather, James Edgar Taylor was born in 1892 in Pickett County, TN. His parents were John Wesley Taylor and Nancy Angeline (nee Payne) Taylor. The information I have suggests both John and Nancy were born in Overton County. Somewhere between 1910 and 1920, James married Lucy MacCarrell. The spelling of her last name may be incorrect. I haven't been able to find any information on her (or any of her family), other than her appearing in the 1920 & 1930 censuses with James, as his wife. Lucy is supposed to be from Overton County as well, but I haven't been able to find any records to back this up. From oral history, Lucy supposedly died young, somewhere in the 1940s. No cause for this was given, and no other details were available. I know they left TN and moved to SC (Greenville area), the marriage ended, and Lucy reportedly went back to TN with the children, and died a short time later. No details were available. These few facts are the only verifiable information I have. I have viewed several trees on Ancestry.com, and while some information seems to pertain to my family tree, a lot of it is contradictory. The Taylor family tree is fairly well documented, but the Payne tree is very sparse...and the MacCarrell tree is virtually nonexistent. That's where I'm "roadblocked" at...I can't get any farther than my paternal grandmother. No parents, siblings...nothing. Not even an absolute birth date or location. If anyone has information relating to these family trees that they're willing to share, I'd really appreciate it. Of course, I'm willing to share what information I have with any interested parties as well. Hopefully, someone will be able to help me solve this long standing mystery. I can't imagine why there would be no birth record or death record to be had. It's almost like she appeared out of nowhere, and vanished the same way. I'm hoping that someone on this mailing list will have at least heard of the MacCarrells, and will be able to point me in the right direction. Any bit of information will be greatly appreciated, no matter how small. Thanks in advance for any help. Robin Taylor Fayetteville, NC **************Create a Home Theater Like the Pros.
