Polly Hayter (1788-1866) is the oldest Hayter buried at the John Vaughn Cemetery. I did not see a Matilda there. I think the family moved to Illinois. Gary D. And this would be wife of Abrham Hayter re: 1850 Overton Co., TN Census...dates are a perfect match. They had one known daughter, Jane Hayter b. about 1830. Gosh - thanks so much and appreciate anything else you should run across. I was conceived in a log cabin near the cemetery. I figure that might have been the old Hayter cabin. My Brown family owned it before the Norris family got it around 1912. The cabin was very old even then. It has since been torn down and an old well placed on the site. Gary D.
