I am researching the family of Benjamin and Sarah Sevier Brown in Overton County ca 1815-1840. Deeds to their land refer to "Obeds River". I am assuming that what is now "Obey River" is the same watercourse. If my assumption is correct can anyone tell me when and why the name was changed? If my assumption is not correct can anyone tell me the presnt name of what was "Obeds River"? The "Obed River" in the present counties of Cumberland and Morgan is apparantly a different stream altogether Thanks in advance to whoever can help me with this!.
