My gg grandmother's name was Sally Elvira Welch. She would have been older than Polly. According to the 1850 census she was 17 and living in Jackson County at that time. She was married to Elijah Brown, they moved to Arkansas after the Civil War. In the census records she gives her name as Welch but my grandfather told me her name was Pruitt. An older cousin told me Elvira emigrated illegally from Wales. I know this probably doesn't help you, there might be a link. I'm looking for any kind of clue to sort out who she was.
