We have been working on a genealogical book about the MAINARD, MAINORD, MAYNARD, MAYNORD, MANORD, MAINYARD, ( among other spellings ) of Overton County. We have mostly concentrated on descendants of William Mainord ( 1740-1880, North Carolina ). There are some Mainords ( the spelling that I will use for all of the above for this letter ) that we have not been able to connect due to incomplete information or nicknames used. We believe that we have sorted everyone and have placed him or her in the proper family branch. We used the spelling of the name found on their headstones. We used census records ( up to 1920 ), marriage records, death records, cemetery records, and information submitted to us by other researchers. We have tried to verify and document all information used. Credit will be given to those who have submitted their data and sources. At the moment we are working on veterans of the Civil War and tying in last minute lines. We are planning to publish summer of 2004. We are inviting any Mainord descendant of William Mainord ( 1740-1880, NC ) with information to contribute to contact us.
