Gary, Thanks for the information. I'm going to be ordering the book later this week. I am so grateful to you for writing these books. I really appreciate all the help that you so generously give to others on this list. I have enjoyed your comments regarding the westward movement from Overton County to Oklahoma. Many of my relatives moved from Overton, Jackson and Clay counties to Collin County, Texas starting about 1875. Many of the Stones, Burrus, Gearhart, Roberts, Kirkpatricks and Butlers moved there. My PETERMAN grandparents moved from Celina, Clay County, TN to Celina, Collin County, TX in about 1900, but many of their relatives were already living there by then. W. C. Burrus and John Mulkey named the town of Celina, TX after their hometown of Celina, TN. Do you have any plans for writing about the Tennessee 4th Cavalry (Murray's), Company D? I believe that Company D was made up of men from Overton County. Two of my great grandfathers served in Co. D (Cleon E. Dale and Riley Peterman) and they each had a brother-in-law who served in the same company. Timothy Coe Burrus was the brother-in-law of Cleon E. Dale and William Stone was the brother-in-law of Riley Peterman. I would love to buy a book about the 4th and see a listing of the men who made up Company D. Thanks again, Betty ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary Norris" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, November 18, 2003 7:37 AM Subject: Re: [TNOVERTO] Hamilton and Shaw's Cavalry Battalion Book > Betty, > > I have William Henry Peterman and W. RE: MULKY family name. Have you ever been to the Old Mulkey meeting house in southern middle KY? There is a Mulkeytown IL where some of the Mulkey's moved to in the 1830-1840s. ----- Original Message ----- From: "bbowens" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, November 18, 2003 4:40 PM Subject: Re: [TNOVERTO] Hamilton and Shaw's Cavalry Battalion Book > Gary, > > Thanks for the information. Betty, Was just reading your e-mail to Gary about your family moving from Celina, TN. to Celina, TX. Even thought I don't have any of your lines, my Kirbys also ended up in Celina, Collin Co., TN. too. My grandfather, Eddie C. Kirby b. 1885 was the last of that line to be born in the Sparta, White Co., TN. area. The family left there when he was 6 mos. old. When first to Rule, Carroll Co., AR. (when other Kirby family members were) and then to Celina by 1900. I have a paper copy of a picture of the city of Celina, TX. showing alot of wagons and people standing around a light pole. My great-grandfather, Polk Davis Kirby is said to be standing near the light pole. I'm thinking this might be when electricity came to the town. Small World!! It seems alot of people from TN. came to TX.
