Ken, The oldest Swallows I know if probably Willie D. Swallows. He should be about 80 or so. I knew his father and brother. Willie D. lives in Livingston, Tennessee the last I heard. Willie D.'s father was the county judge in Overton County back in the 1930's or 1940's as I recall. His son, Elmo, was the judge back in the 1970's. I grew up next door to Elmo. The Swallows generally were strong Democrats and strong party men. Elmo was the local chairman of the Kennedy electorate in 1960. My father was the chairman of the Nixon campaign. My father and Elmo went to college together and were known for their practical jokes on one another. Dad had me to put a Nixon campaign sticker on Elmo rear bumper. Elmo drove around town for a week before anyone told him about the joke. Yep, they were great friends. You need to look at the History of Overton County, Tennessee: Volume 1. There is a picture of Francis Hammock Swallows. The book has a few pages dedicated to the Swallows family. Gary D.
