The only Clark Edwards I can find is in 1833 Fentress Co Tax List along with Edward Franklin & in 1850 Fentress as age 46, thus born abt 1804 abt same tie Edward was born in 1807. I think Clark b 1804 was a brother to Edward Franklin b. abt 1807. Since Edward was born in KY, I find a Thomas Franklin in Cumberland Co., KY 1010 Census with 3 males age 1-10, the age bracket of both Thomas and Clark. Cumberland co Ky located just across the border of Overton at the time. I do not see a Clark Franklin as head of HH. Then Thomas is found n 1820 Overton with 1 male age 16-18: likeley Clark b. 1804 2 males ag 10-16: likely Edward b. 1807 & Nathaniel born 1809/10. This Thomas has other males in HH whom I cannot identify as of yet. Interestingly Thomas & family are 4 pgs away from a James BLACK who may be the father of Sarah "Sally Black b. abt 1810. He has 3 females ages 1-10 & 3 females ages 10-16. I feel certain one of these 6 is Sarah Black. Her brother Adam Black who was living next door to Edward & Sarah in 1830 Fenress born bet 1800-1810 is likely the male child in James' HH age 10-16. Again I do not see a Clark Edwards in 1820 Overton as a Head of HH. Please share with me the info you have on the Clark Fraklin md to Lula Underwood. Abt when was this Clark born & where do you first find him? I may have missed or overlooked someting. Corrections & feedback are always welcomed! Regards -----Original Message----- From: Bruce E. If this is the one you are talking about, perhaps he would not be in Overton County 1820 census, but somewhere in KY. Love, Bruce Bruce E. York 1362 W. In 1820 Ovreton Co., TN there was only Thomas Franklin (born abt 1775) who had a son in that age bracket. The enumeration for Thomas (121110-101000). speculation only according to birth dates 1 son age 16-26 (1794-1804) unknown Franklin 1 son b. 1802-04 Clark Franklin 2 sons b. 1804-1810 Edward Franklin b. 1807 Nathaniel Franklin b. 1804-1810 1 son b. 1810-1820 Unknown Franklin Next door to Thomas Franklin was an Agnes Franklin. She is age 26-45. She has two sons age 1-10 & 16-26 and another female her age bracket. Note that Thomas Franklin does not have a wife. Is Agnes his wife, now divorced, or a sister-in-law? Who is this Agnes Franklin? Abt 13 houses away on same pg is Isaac Franklin b abt 1795/96, a possible son of Thomas? Then on the next pg is a Lawrence Franklin b. 1794-1799 with 1 son age 1-10. Is he another son of Thomas? Also another thing to note that Edward may have been born in KY. Thomas Franklin was in 1810 Cumberland Co. KY Census index. He has 3 sons age 1-10, one of whom could be Edward b. abt 1807. The other 2 sons could be Clark & Natahaniel. Hope to hear from anyone researching these Franklin families to add or to correct. Any feedback, additions, corrections welcomed. -----Original Message----- From: Barbara Franklin Sent: Monday, May 21, 2007 9:30 PM To: tnfentre@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNFENTRE] Edward Franklin Hi, James Garrett. I, too, believe that Edward and Clark were brothers, along with Nathan. Unfortunately, "believing" is all I have been able to do. Oral history in our family is that Edward, Sr. was married only one time, to "Sally Black." "Sally" has been used as a nickname for both Mary and Sarah, and we have no evidence that there was more than one wife. On the other hand, other "facts" about our family have been disproven in the past. Thanks for your input re Thomas. I would love to correspond with anyone who is descended from any of these Franklins or who has further information. Meanwhile, I will just keep digging. It is my understanding that a Clark Franklin, married to Mary "Polly" Bowden, belonged to a family from the Carolinas. Oral tradition in our family is that Edward's people came from Kentucky. I don't know if this is the same Clark as in the 1820 Census. Are you assuming that Clark, Nathan, Edward, and Isaac were sons of Thomas, or is there a listing somewhere. I would dearly love to have such a listing. To complicate things even further, there was an Indian, Isaac, who married Caroline Franklin and took her name. This family ended up in Fentress County also. Again, many thanks for your help. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNFENTRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNFENTRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNFENTRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNFENTRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
