Doris, The Doss families lived primarily in the greater Alexandria area of Smith County, TN in the 1800's. Stewart and his son Jonathan Doss were part of the early formation of DeKalb County TN in the 1850's. A John Doss (some times listed as Doff) in Jefferson County TN about that time. He was suppose to be a Revolutionary War Vet. There is a river boat pilot Capt. John Doss buried at Bethel Cemetery on Church Street, Kingston, Roane County, TN. I am a descendant of Mariah Doss the daughter of Stewart/Stuart Doss who migrated to Smith County in the early 1800's from Virginia.
