Gunters first wife was Martha Jane Smith b.1835 TN. They md. ~ 1859 according to 1870 Fentress census with son John, being 10. I am trying to identify her parents. A Daniel and Sarah had a daughter Martha b. 1835 according to 1850 Overton Co.,census. I was almost sure this was the Martha Jane i'm trying to connect. However, Daniel and his family, including Martha is in White Co. in 1860. Now i am not sure this is the Martha i'm looking for. So, if this is not the Martha belonging to Daniel who md William Gunter, which martha Jane Smith am i seeking? Who are her parents? Which line of Smiths does she belong to?
