Helen, Boy, you sure know how to open a can of worms. I have Beatty Phillips as the son of William Phillips Sr. William Sr lived up near Wirmingham. There is no proof that Old Mose was a son of William Phillips Sr. However, the same surnames run through both families (both had sons named Reuben, Thomas, William). William Sr was the son of Reuben and had brothers named Levi and Jonas, Moses used both names. They both came From Rowan County about the same time. and both ended up in Overton County. And Moses was the right age to be one of William Phillips Sr. sons. Lots of amateur genealogists believe they are kin. I do too. But I cant prove it. I welcome any discussion on this point.
