Three days ago I sent an e-mail to notify researchers that I have completed "Overton County, TN, Marriages, November 1926 - December 31, 1959" on CD. The e-mail server that I was using then went down for upgrades and I have been unable to receive e-mail since day before yesterday. If anyone tried to reach me, please use this e-mail address - vonnielm@charter.net Thank you, Vonnie Looper Munnerlyn

I was just into some Pittsylvania County VA. papers and books. In the book "History of Pittsylvania County." there was a Robert PAYNE and a Ruben Payne. both served in the Militia in the Rev. War. I know a part of the PAYNE family went to Texas. The PAYNE family I do not think is related at least to my branch of the Langford family. But a fellow researcher asked if anyone knew anything a about the PAYNE family, hence I had page photo copied from eh said book and found them listed on several pages with said Benjamin Langford (died 1811 VA) ----- Original Message ----- From: <MusketMaMa@aol.com> To: <TNOVERTO@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 29, 2008 4:42 PM Subject: [TNOVERTO] Researching Taylor/Payne/MacCarrell > Hello everyone... > My name is Robin Taylor, and I've been researching my family tree for > several years now. You are on the right track in Overton Co. TN. The Payne family and the Taylor Family lived there. Paul Taylor, now deceased did a lot of research on them. Look in the Old Bethel Cemetery, on line in Overtron Co. Gen Web site. Also search that site for added information. Paul Taylor's Daughter lives on the Heard Ridge and she may have some of his papers. Again you are in the right area and should be able to find what you need. If you need Professional help, Contact Ronald Dishman inLivingston TN and he will be able to assist you....good Luck ----- Original Message ----- From: "D&R" <dcran41266@comcast.net> To: <tnoverto@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 29, 2008 5:04 PM Subject: Re: [TNOVERTO] Researching Taylor/Payne/MacCarrell >I was just into some Pittsylvania County VA. papers and books. Hello everyone... My name is Robin Taylor, and I've been researching my family tree for several years now. (Taylor/Payne/MacCarrell are in my paternal line) Unfortunately, there have been quite a few roadblocks...by way of finding erroneous information (lots and lots of that erroneous info came from Ancestry.com); or worse yet, none at all. Verifiable information has proven quite hard to find so far. Following are the facts I can verify to at least a 90% certainty: My grandfather, James Edgar Taylor was born in 1892 in Pickett County, TN. His parents were John Wesley Taylor and Nancy Angeline (nee Payne) Taylor. The information I have suggests both John and Nancy were born in Overton County. Somewhere between 1910 and 1920, James married Lucy MacCarrell. The spelling of her last name may be incorrect. I haven't been able to find any information on her (or any of her family), other than her appearing in the 1920 & 1930 censuses with James, as his wife. Lucy is supposed to be from Overton County as well, but I haven't been able to find any records to back this up. From oral history, Lucy supposedly died young, somewhere in the 1940s. No cause for this was given, and no other details were available. I know they left TN and moved to SC (Greenville area), the marriage ended, and Lucy reportedly went back to TN with the children, and died a short time later. No details were available. These few facts are the only verifiable information I have. I have viewed several trees on Ancestry.com, and while some information seems to pertain to my family tree, a lot of it is contradictory. The Taylor family tree is fairly well documented, but the Payne tree is very sparse...and the MacCarrell tree is virtually nonexistent. That's where I'm "roadblocked" at...I can't get any farther than my paternal grandmother. No parents, siblings...nothing. Not even an absolute birth date or location. If anyone has information relating to these family trees that they're willing to share, I'd really appreciate it. Of course, I'm willing to share what information I have with any interested parties as well. Hopefully, someone will be able to help me solve this long standing mystery. I can't imagine why there would be no birth record or death record to be had. It's almost like she appeared out of nowhere, and vanished the same way. I'm hoping that someone on this mailing list will have at least heard of the MacCarrells, and will be able to point me in the right direction. Any bit of information will be greatly appreciated, no matter how small. Thanks in advance for any help. Robin Taylor Fayetteville, NC **************Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. Ann, I just finished working on Elizabeth REED's line, I verified the data that I have and made additions and corrections. am missing grant deeds but will get to those. I DO have a scanned photograph of Elizabeth and Clayborne ( spelling comes from a document he signed ). The photographs are not super clear but usable. I am currently working on Mary Ann REED's line, will eventually get to all 15 children. My line comes down from John Shelby REED the # 13 child. Guille
I would be interested in this also. She is the sister of my 3rd great grandmother Elizabeth Reed Savage who married Claiborn Savage about 1849. I don't have pictures of any of the Reeds or the Savages of Overton & Clay County.
