    2. I'm searching for info about Lourany Greenwood married to Isaac Allison who was from Smith Co. just south of Overton Co. I found wonderful info last week in Smith Co. about the Allisons at the courthouse and archives but nothing about her. Someone was kind enough to send me info about the Greenwoods in Overton Co. I feel that Lourancy Greenwood was one of them. Lourany and Isaac were in Tyler Co., Tx. in the 1850 census. Isaac was the son of Joseph Allison of Smith Co. and who died in 1828. June

    3. I have pretty good records of Elijah from 1850 on, it's prior to 1850 census, there's almost nothing. The 1860 census lists several other Browns in neighboring households. I'm got a pretty good hunch that he may be related to some of them, but I have nothing to connect him to any of them. This is the drawback to having such a plain vanilla name. 3. Welch and Elmore would probably be more from toward Monterey. Putnam County was finally established in 1854 as you may well know. They would have probably shown up on the 1850 Overton County Census since the southern boundary of the county was the Walton Road in Monterey. Gary D. 2. You didn't specify whther the Welch family was living in Overton Co. when she was born etc. but in the 1850 census there was only one welch family in the Co. Samuel 48 and Nancy 43 with the following children: Catherine 20; Emeline 17; William 17; John 16; Jacob 13; James 11; George 9; Hannah 7; Sarah 5; and Anne 2. Polly was a common nickname, generally for Mary but sometimes used for others also. In the 1880 census I only found one William Elmore in TN. He was born in 1847 but his wife's name was Martha and I believe they were in Jefferson Co., TN. The 1860 Census for Overton Co. is also on Roots Web TNGenWeb Project website but does not have an index so you would have to go page by page thru the images looking for the family.
