    3. thank you for the info, I was looking for information back in the early 1800, for the McDonalds, thought there might be some connection. lawanna -----Original Message----- From: Gary Norris [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, August 25, 2003 8:12 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [TNOVERTO] WRIGHT, BERTRAM, again! The McDonald's own all the land around the church. There are been three different churches there. I went with my grandparents to the first old white weatherboard house. It was eventually torn down for a new brick house. The new house was destroyed in a tornado back in 1974 as I recall. It has since been rebuilt. The congregation split I think and it is as small as it was 30 years ago. I would guess the church goes back to about 1900. 1. Re: Re: [TNOVERTO] Hayter 1850's
    2. I assume anyone researching the Hayter name probably knows this already, but a large family of Hayters out of the Cumberland region (Overton/Fentress counties) of Tennessee migrated to Nacogdoches Texas along about when some of my Campbells did in the 1830s and 1840s. They were some of the founding members of the Rock Springs Presbyterian Church NW of Nacogdoches Texas which claims to be the first protestant in Texas. Evan B. Campbell was also an early member of that church and was a brother to Rev. James Campbell whom I mentioned in an earlier post today. I have more info if anyone is interested. ----- Original Message ----- From: ladybug Sent: 8/25/2003 9:47:31 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [TNOVERTO] Hayter 1850's > I'm sure they did move to Il. - pretty sure it is my batch of > Hayter's...thanks - Gail > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Gary Norris" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Sunday, August 24, 2003 10:21 PM > Subject: Re: [TNOVERTO] Hayter 1850's > > > > Polly Hayter (1788-1866) is the oldest Hayter buried at the John Vaughn > > Cemetery. 1. [TNOVERTO] Taylor / Copeland/Campbell
    2. I am descended from Isaac Taylor who was one of the first residents in Overton County near old Monroe. He was born 8-23-1783 and was a surveyor. He came to the MERO district of TN when it was a wilderness. His mothers name was Catharine _______ and she applied for a Rev pension under her husbands service. Isaac's father was George N. (Nathaniel?) Taylor who died at a fairly young age. Isaac married Agnes Copeland of the Col Stephen Copeland clan. His daughter Didama Taylor married my great great grandfather James Campbell (son of Joseph Campbell, another early Overton Co pioneer who settled there sometime around 1806 to 1810 and was a War of 1812 lieutenant from that area). James Campbell and family headed west to Kansas in the early 1850s then were in Nacogdoches, TX by 1860. I am interested in corresponding/ working with other researchers who are tied into these lines. Also wondering about the resources that might be available in Overton Co for the time period of 18! 06 to 1860 other than census records...Tim Campbell ([email protected])

    3. There was an Abner West who married Levina Belk on February 28, 1794 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. There was a Reuben West who married Susannah Belk between 1792-1995. They also lived in Lincoln County, North Carolina. These two are related to my Isaac West and most of the others who ended up in Overton County, Tennessee. Both Abner and Reuben West seem to have been old enough to have been the father of your James West. This might at least give you a starting point. 2. Mary West Holland
    3. I know that Isaac West and James West are not brothers. They could be some sort of cousins. I am like you, I have never heard of anyone looking for James and connecting him to my Isaac West. They should be related though. Have you ever searched for the land records of James West and see who he sold his land to when he left this area? Those records could reveal some good information. Perhaps his brother or some close family member purchased his land. My Isaac West was from Lincoln County, North Carolina. This might give you a place to start looking for James. Write back real soon. 3. Anna, The Wrights to whom I referred were cartwrights by profession. I don't know that they ever changed their names. It was their profession in the Wirmingham and McDonald's Chapel area of Overton County. That old cemetery which I mentioned was southeast of McDonald's Chapel a short distance. There were Worleys buried there also. I don't know if I ever found a single stone which was inscribed. The site was a hog pen the last time I checked it about 25 years ago. Gary D. 3. My Isaac West was born in 1790 and died in Overton County, TN in 1836. His wife was Mary and she didn't die until 1863. The youngest son she had was James West and he was still living with his widowed mother in the 1850 census of Overton County, TN. Isaac West and wife Mary West and James West and his wife are all buried in Overton County, TN. Do you know any of your James' brothers and sisters? I may have some information on them in my files.
