    2. Billy, Do you by chance have a Margaret Elizabeth Cophen/Copeland in your line. She married William S. Worthen/Warthen around 1854 and died from burns in Collin County, Texas before 1860. I don't know where they married but may have been in Wayne County, TN, AR or Texas. Thanks, Barbara Warthen/Worthen, Stringer, Fletcher, Chitwood, Gatlin, Mangum +

    3. Not to be picking here but it would make more sense to me to send a message to the list posting some information about your line or asking a question. This would accomplish a few different things. 4. You will know that you are still subscribed and your e-mail is working. 3. You may pass along much needed information for some poor soul that has been searching for years for the information you just shared. 2. You may receive a piece of information that connects your line to that elusive ancestor you have been looking for so many years. 1. There won't be 6,000,000,000,000 messages from around the world that someone received your test message. Just a thought. Billy Carr Researching CARR, COPELAND, BILBREY, LEDBETTER, GORE and related families of Overton Co., TN My most elusive ancestors are the parents of Thomas CARR b 1783 in Virginia and Rebecca (possibly Tipton?) b. 12-28-1803 in Tennessee

    3. That's my problem, I don't know for sure that is him. All the census info fits him, if he is head of household. Since no one from Levi West has claimed him, I wondered about him and if there was a relation. I feel sure that is mine, but all I have to go on is the census. 3. I think John Colin McDonald was one of the first McDonalds in Overton County. I believe I picked him up on a travel journal kept by Governor John Sevier around 1800. The governor stayed at his house more than once. It was said they were old friends from the days of the battle at Kings Mountain, North Carolina. I got my information from a book by George Allen Knight. The title is "Our Wounderful Overton County Heritage." The Knights were descendants of the Seviers. Gary D. 3. The McDonald's own all the land around the church. There are been three different churches there. I went with my grandparents to the first old white weatherboard house. It was eventually torn down for a new brick house. The new house was destroyed in a tornado back in 1974 as I recall. It has since been rebuilt. The congregation split I think and it is as small as it was 30 years ago. I would guess the church goes back to about 1900. 3. My bad. It was the Carlock family that moved to Illinois in the 1840's from Overton County. They were also an Alpine family. Gary D.
