Trying to find Joel Pitts. Born abt. 1843 in Overton Co. TN. H later married Malinda J. Smith in Dec. 16, 1875 in Overton Co. then I can't find anything on him at all. I did find Malinda back in her father's household in 1880. Donna
Rex, I have looked and cannot find a clue. We probably have 5,000 or more unknowns buried in Overton County. I wish I only knew who they were and I would solve a lot of genealogical problems for many people. Gary D. Gary- Thanks for the response to my earlier query. I looked in your book of Overton cemeteries and did not find info on Nelson Davis' son Joseph. Could not find Joseph in the 1880 census. Nelson was born 1806/07 and his wife Ruth 1820/21 based upon census data and Joseph was 1835/36 based upon 1850 census. Joseph was not with family in 1860 or 1870 census. Ruth was daughter of Joseph Hawkins Windle/ Joanna Goad Sevier (dau of Gov. John Sevier). You wouldn't happen to have any data on Joseph Davis would you. I don't know if he died or moved out of Overton Co. prior to 1860 census. Rex Phillips - Dallas ( I mistyped it as Rec in earlier query). Thnx a lot for the help.

Want info on wife and children of Jesse Prior age 60-70 in 1830 census of Overton Co., Tennessee. In the 1850 census, an Anne Pryor age 74 is living in household of Judy Hummel age 52; are these Jesse's widow and a daughter? Did Anne also have a daughter named Anne?
Hey Gary, Thanks for the info. Those guys all branch off from my lineage; they or their fathers were brothers to my ggggrandfathers. Thanks for keeping your eye pealed for me though. The Lord Bless You and Yours. Ken Swallows
There was an Isaac R. Swallows who served. He was 28 at the time of his enlistment in the 25th Infantry. As I recall, the other Isaac was much too old for military service. Hey Bill, Thanks for the info. I've been curious about that for over a year, just hadn't pursued it. I do appreciate and am grateful to all you folks who have been faithful to find and preserve our lineage. God has been good to us. The Lord Bless You All and Yours. A saying I have held to with my family; it goes the same with "our" family lineage: They may not be perfect, but they are mine, and I don't want anybody messin' with 'em. Thanks again for the info. We continue praying for you and yours. The Lord Bless You and Yours Today. Ken Swallows
Hi Ken, Just thought I'd mention something: that is one of the errors in the History of Overton County Book. It lists Isaac Swallows (son of Jacob, grandson of Andrew) as having served in the Civil War -which he did not. There is an Isaac Swallows who served but it wasn't the Isaac you referenced. Hey Gary, Do you know if these books have Swallows ancestors in them? I know there is an Issac Swallows who was in the Civil War, but I don't know which one. My Issac was born 1808, died around 1894, married to Frances Hammock, both of Overton Co., I believe. There were several Issac's and Jacob's so I haven't kept up with which is which. Thanks for any info. The Lord Bless You and Yours. Ken Swallows
