Dave, There is not much in the form of records left by this group. When Hamilton was murdered and Shaw later killed in battle, the group seemed to just evaporate. I found Hamilton's grave, but someone had stolen his numbered marker. I will check with the SCV about putting up a new marker for him in the Lexington City Cemetery in Lexington, Kentucky. If you are refering to the applications, in themselves they do give all pertinent information [birth, location, etc.], the index does not. You could go by state to determine your ancestor, as the applications were submitted in 1907, the census could verify the person. Also at one time I obtained a microfilm from the Family History Center on loan that gave some information on the people making these applications. You can find these microfilms by doing a search of "Guion Miller rolls" on the LDS site. As for as those approved for citizenship, the message boards should point you in the right direction.

Some of the Mulkey family came over the mountain and settled in the Watauga Settlement area. Jonathan Mulkey was a minister in the Sinking Springs Baptist Association in NC. He followed Tidus Lane as minister of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church at Gray, Washington County, TN. He is buried there. His descendants and other relatives migrated to middle TN, Kentucky, and later Missouri. In the late 1840s and early 1850's they traveled over the Oregon Trail and settled in Benton County and other places in Oregon. Of course some of the family remained in the east. I am not a Mulkey descendant but I cross paths with the family every where I turn in my research. At one point a distant cousin did marry a Mulkey while living in Missouri before they went to Oregon. Cindy, My dad always said that most of the people living in the Celina, TX area were from TN, and many of them were related to us. Many of the early settlers were buried in the Old Celina Cemetery which was started in about 1880 and is a Texas Historical Landmark. Some of the people from Overton and Jackson Counties also settled in Grayson, Fannin, Cooke, Denton, Tarrant and Dallas counties. I believe that all these counties were originally in Fannin County. Several of the Peterman families settled across the Red River in what was then Indian Territory close to Ardmore and Davis, OK. I will be happy to send you as much information as I can on Cleon E. Dale, but I will try to send it to your e-mail address as it would be too long for the list. I am descended from Nancy Elizabeth Dale (called Bettie) who was the first born child of Cleon and "Fannie" Chism Dale. She was the second wife of Richard Tinsley Peterman and they had 10 sons and 1 daughter. (R. T. had one daughter by his first wife, Martha J. Green.) They moved to Collin County, TX about 1900. Hi Cindy, Just wanted to say that my great-grandfather Wm. S. Warthen/Worthen moved from Wayne County, TN after the 1850 Census to Collin County, TX arriving in time to be on the 1855 Tax Roll. I suspect he made a stop in AR before moving on to Texas. It would be great to have a web site dedicated to those who moved from TN to TX in the 19th century. Barbara

Moses Fisk was an early settler to the Overton County area. He helped lay out towns and roads. A port at the junction of Obey and Cumberland Rivers was named after his daughter, Celina Fisk. Settlers leaving Celina, Tennessee took that name to Texas and bestowed it once again on a town, Celina Texas. Gary D. Linda, The Overton Count Cemetery Book Set:: Roll Call will probably give you more information about the Copelands than any other book. The reasoning behind this idea comes from the fact there are so many, many Copeland mentioned in it. Each of the deceased has a bit of information to tie them in with other Copelands. Betty, Was just reading your e-mail to Gary about your family moving from Celina, TN. to Celina, TX. Even thought I don't have any of your lines, my Kirbys also ended up in Celina, Collin Co., TN. too. My grandfather, Eddie C. Kirby b. 1885 was the last of that line to be born in the Sparta, White Co., TN. area. The family left there when he was 6 mos. old. When first to Rule, Carroll Co., AR. (when other Kirby family members were) and then to Celina by 1900. I have a paper copy of a picture of the city of Celina, TX. showing alot of wagons and people standing around a light pole. My great-grandfather, Polk Davis Kirby is said to be standing near the light pole. I'm thinking this might be when electricity came to the town. Small World!! It seems alot of people from TN. came to TX. Gary: I am just looking for information on my relatives. Linda K
Gary: Hi, Linda again. I am looking for information on who and maybe what kind of people my Copeland side was. I have already found atleast 4 Copelands I have not known about in last 4-6 months and I am looking forward to finding more. I am trying to find out all I can about my family and heritage. Maybe you can tell me what books have the best information. One of the ladys that you have been emailing back and forth with on the subject of the Copelands is one of my relatives. So any help you can give me I would greatly appreciate. Thanks for all Linda K
