Mathes (1800-1875), to my knowledge, only had one child - John Thomas Mathes. John Thomas Mathes had seven children, one named William Thomas Mathes - (1866-1946) who married Elizabeth Kathryn Johnson. He was also sheriff of Obion County abt 1916. Most of my line lived in Obion CO although some did move to Gibson CO. It appears we are talking about two different Mathes lines.
