Descendants of Adalphus Dow Jones Generation No. 1 1. ADALPHUS DOW JONES was born February 14, 1843 in McConnell, Obion Co. TN, and died February 10, 1930 in McConnell, Obion Co. TN. He married (1) MARY AMANDA FOWLER UNDERWOOD August 30, 1866 in Obion Co. TN., daughter of CHAPMAN UNDERWOOD and DELILLAH UNKNOWN. She was born 1846 in McConnell, Obion Co. TN, and died July 01, 1892 in McConnell, Obion Co. TN. He married (2) JENNIE UNDERWOOD September 02, 1892 in Obion Co. TN.. Notes for ADALPHUS DOW JONES: Adolphus Dow Jones married his wife's sister Jennie 2 months after her death. It is unknown which sister was known as Jennie. Notes for MARY AMANDA FOWLER UNDERWOOD: Obituary of Mandy Jones (Mary Amanda Fowler} found in the Jones Family Bible now being held by Kay Davis. Died on the 1st day of July 1892. Sister Mary Amanda Fowler Jones, consort of Adolphus Jones and daughter of Dr. Underwood. She professed religion in august 1882. was baptized by Elder J. N. Wright and joined the Johnson Grove Baptist Church which she remained a member until her death. She was present at our June meeting, at the next we laid her in the grave near her church. Her sickness was short,. her death triumphant. she leaves a husband, five children and some brothers and sisters to morn their loss. TN., and died September 08, 1961 in Union City, Obion Co. TN.. Notes for MILDRED JONES: Obituary from the Union City Tennessee Daily Messenger: "Mrs Mildred Jones Killebrew, 88, of 1013 North Division Street died at the Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Fulton at 1:40 Tuesday, August 14, 1977. She had been a patient there since November. Services will be held at 3 pm Thursday at the White-Ramson Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Waldon Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens. Mrs Killebrew was born July 3, 1889 in Obion County, daughter of the late A.D. Jones and Mary Amanda Underwood. She married the late Walter Killebrew in 1908 and he died in 1961. Mildred ws retired from the Brown Shoe Company and was a member of the Exchange Street Church of Christ and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include three sons, Ralph Killebrew of Taylor Michigan, James Harold Killebrew of Nyessa, Oregon, and Robert Killebrew of El Paso, Texas, three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
