My Gr-Gr-Grandfather, John Fox, was elected sheriff of Obion County in November 1862. He must have died in 1863 because his wife, Mary Martin, was remarried to Thomas Finley Fields by April 1864. Does anyone know anything about this time frame in Obion County? I am wondering if his death might have been from something other than natural causes. John was a blacksmith, and the family lived close to the town of Obion. Sandra Baither
