Posted on: Obion County, Tennessee, Obituaries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/ObionObits/639 Surname: Grimes, Dean, Darnell, Jones ------------------------- Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the White-Ranson chapel for Mrs. Floella Darnell, 57, who died at 3 o’clock Friday afternoon at her home in Hiland Heights after an extended illness. The Rev. David Threlkeld conducted the services with neighbors and friends serving as pallbearers. Interment was in the Troy Cemetery. Mrs. Darnell was born in Obion Co on 9/23/1894, the daughter of Jim Grimes & Maggie Dean Grimes. She was married to W. H. Darnell on 12/2/1921. Mrs. Darnell had spent her entire life in Obion Co. After her marriage, she & Mr. Darnell resided in the Troy & Polk communities where he was in the grocery business. They moved to Hiland about a year and a half ago, and Mr. Darnell operated the Darnell’s grocery on the Martin highway until a short time ago when he sold his business due to Mrs. Darnell’s failing health. She had been ill for the past 8 months. Mrs. Darnell was a member of the Church of Christ. She leaves her husband; 1 sister, Mrs. Maggie Jones of Pontiac, Michigan and several nieces & nephews.
