    1. [TNObion] Re: Connection between William D. Jones (1836-1902) and William T. Jones (1856-1947)???
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: JONES, CROCKETT Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/TgB.2ACE/2206.1 Message Board Post: Hi David, I also have a JONES line (maternal) and a CROCKETT line (paternal). My Jones line was from Weakley Co., TN (neighboring county to Obion). A William JONES was my ggg grandfather (b. c1790 in VA, I believe). My gggg grandfather was also named William JONES so it's all very confusing. My Jones line was in Weakley Co. from Wilson Co., TN by 1830. As far as my CROCKETT line, my ggg grandfather was Aaron CROCKETT, brother of "Davy". I have the book CROCKETT COUSINS, by Kathryn E. Jones, and here is some of the information in that book about Rebecca Margaret CROCKETT and Cave Johnson CROCKETT. These CROCKETTs are listed in Chapter X and is noted as Robertson Co. TN CROCKETTs. Samuel CROCKETT and 2 of his brothers, John and William all came from PA to Robertson Co. in 1788. Their parents are said to have been William and Margaret CROCKETT. Margaret was b. 1734 in Ireland. Here is their son John's line. It includes both Cave and Rebecca Margaret who married William D. JONES. William and Margaret's son, John CROCKETT was b. c1768, PA; d. 1856, Humphreys Co., TN; married Rebecca JOHNSON, 26 May 1794. Rebecca died in 1816. John then married Mary PAINE. One of the children of this John CROCKETT was John M. CROCKETT, b. 3 Nov 1810, Humphreys Co., TN; d. 23 Nov 1878, Obion Co., TN. He married 4 times -- 1.) Unk. BLACK; m. 2.) Grace CROCKETT, 20 Dec 1843, Obion Co., TN; m. 3.) Louisa McALISTER, 24 Sep 1846, Obion Co., TN; m. 4.) Elizabeth A. (Unknown maiden name). The son of John M.(b. 1810) was Cave Johnson CROCKETT, b. 11 Sep 1852, Obion Co., TN. He married Elizabeth "Bidie" EVANS. They had 8 children: Cora Hill; Sallie, b. 1873; Lou; Lida McAlister; Cave J., Jr., b. 1877; David, b. 1878; Mary, b. 1882; and James Cave, b. 1888. Another son of John CROCKETT (b. 1768) was Joseph CROCKETT, b. 4 Feb 1813( father of Rebecca Margaret). He married Elizabeth Wilmoth LUMSDEN (No location of birth or marriage listed). Joseph and Elizabeth had Rebecca Margaret CROCKETT, b. 26 Oct 1842; d. 31 Mar 1902. She married William D. JONES, 14 Feb 1866, Obion Co., TN. Unfortunately, there are no children listed for Rebecca and William. Rebecca's siblings were as follows: 1. Jesse L., died young 2. Joseph 3. Elizabeth, m. H. H. BROWN, 30 May 1867, Obion Co., TN 4. John Barkley, b. c1848; d 1861 5. Mary Ann, b. 22 Nov 1850; . 29 April 1907; m. Joseph Edward MOSS, 15 Oct 1869 6. Stephen, b. c1853; d. 1870 7. Henry J., b. 1856; d. 1879 8. George P., b. 1859; d. 1860 9. Jacob J., b. 1861; d. 1870 10. Son, b. 1864; d. 1864 So Cave J. CROCKETT and Rebecca M. CROCKETT JONES were cousins. I hope some of this information will help in your research. Good luck. Brenda

Are the Jones in your message all descendants of William D. Jones and Margaret Rebecca Crockett? I have their children as: Elizabeth A. Jones, b. circa 1867; Rebecca J., b. circa 1869; John J., b. circa 1872; Dora B., b. circa 1875 and Robert C., b. 1879. Most of these folks are buried at Cobb's Chapel. I am very interested in this family because I believe that my gr-gr gf William T. Jones (1856-1947) is somehow related to this Jones family. Both of these William Joneses were from the Humphreys Co. area and I believe that my William was a nephew to your William D. Jones. In 1880 your William and my William are both in the 10th district with Ruth Adams living in between the two of them. Your William D. Jones was justice of the peace at my William Jones wedding to Mary Louis Davis and your William's wife Rebecca's cousin Cave J. Crockett was my William's bonsdman. I'm pretty convinced these two William's were kin of some sort. Do you have any info about them? Also, Ruth's son John David Adams, b. circa 1862, was he a doctor, known as Dave Adams? Was he married to Elizabeth Jane Deen (another cousin of mine)? Do you have any additional info about them and their descendants? Thanks for you help! Dave

His wife's name was Sarah, however. I have lived in Tennessee all of my life and I am not familiar with a Jackson County. David Fletcher Halliburton lived about forty miles north of Jackson, TN -- the city. He died in 1883 and is buried in Wilkes Cemetery near Rutherford, Tennessee. He had seven children. He was my great-great grandfather. His father, William, founded the first Baptist church west of the Tennessee River in 1821. Could this possibly be the one?

    1. [TNObion] Connection between William D. Jones (1836-1902) and William T. Jones (1856-1947)???
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Jones, Davis, Hancock, Crockett Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TgB.2ACE/2206 Message Board Post: Well, I'm still on my "needle in a haystack" search for info on the ancestors of my gr-gr gf William Thomas Jones (1856-1947). My William was born in the 8th Civil District of Hickman County, TN. very close to the Humphreys Co. line. He was the son of Willis (or Willie) S. Jones (1831-cw) and Margaret Ann Knight (1833-after 1879) of Humphreys Co.. In 1876 my William moved by himself (from what I can tell) to the 10th Civil District of Obion Co. from Hickman Co. and later that year married Mary Louisa Davis daughter of William Penn Davis and Nancy Emeline Hancock. They lived in the Ebenezer/Cunningham Community northwest of Troy. When William and Mary married on Dec. 21, 1876, the Justice of the Peace who married them was William D. Jones. I believe this is the same William D. Jones (son of Jessee and Rebecca Jones of Humphreys Co.) who lived one family away from my William T. Jones in 1880. Is my William T. Jones kin to William D. Jones? Could William D. be an uncle or cousi! n of my William T., or is all of this coincidence? If they were kin, it would certaily explain my William's settling in this area at a young age. When my William married Mary Davis, Cave J. Crockett signed for bond. Was Cave Crockett related to Rebecca M. Crockett, William D. Jones' wife? All of these folks came from the Humphreys and Hickman Co. area of Middle Tennnessee and I can't help but think (actually hope!) that there is a kin connection of some sort between them. I am stuck at determining who the parents of my Willis S. Jones was, so I am checking any possible connection.... Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks! Dave

Historical Society, your W.P. Albright (Apr. 12, 1848-May 2, 1909) and his wife S.C. Albright (March 30, 1848-Feb. 27, 1885) "Wife of W. P. Albright" are both buried in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, which is about midway between the towns of Hornbeak and Obion. There are many Albrights buried in this cemetery. Of note is the fact that W.P. and S.C. are not buried side by side. S.C. is buried with other Albrights, next to L.M. Coble (?-April 5, 1885). L. M. Coble is buried next to another Coble, no first name or date of death due to broken stone (May 27, 1827-?) "Wife of George Coble". There is only one other Coble listed in this book, J. P. Coble, 1859-1895 buried in Hornbeak City Cemetery. I hope this helps and thanks for the Hickman Co. lookups!
