They were in Obion Co Tn. at the same time. Alexander was born in 1783 in Botetourt Co. Va. Alex was the son of Lawrence Conner and Margaret Blane they moved to Cumberland Ky in 1802. Alexander moved on to Obion Co. around 1820. He lived on Island #18 in the Mississippi River,he died in about 1840. I find Isham Conner in the Weakley County Census in 1830. He is 30 to 40 years old has children. He has 6 male children under 20 one male being 15 to 20 ( I believe that is Isham Conner Jr) I find Isham Conner 37 in Obion Co.Tn.in the 1850 census with wife Ann 33 Children Elizabeth 12 Mary 11 and Rebecca 8. Isham Conner Jr is listed as being born in Ky. I also find a Mary E Conner 62 living in Obion County in 1920 with a son Isham Conner being 23 years old. I would think that this younger Isham is connected to this family. Any help would be appreciated.

I have no info on when I.G. Harris went to missouri but today i found info on his Civil War records i believe...i had been told by family that he was in 145th infantry, Company F. I found today the 145th infantry Company F is the 100 day service men...he is listed there as Green Harris, Private, Mankanda. Im pretty sure this is my I.Green Harris. He was born in Orion County, TN and died in SToddard County in April 1916. He was married 4 times..I received a copy of his death certificate and it listed Orion County, TN as place of birth but I'm not sure who the man that signed it was...I think a relative, the name is Lane and they are in my family too. Id love to find info on Isaac's family..I think his father was from NC and mother SC....the census record you found is correct. But if I come across any info on James..ill let you know. sherry

Martha was married at least 3 times, and the father, John Burton had to have been married before Martha according to the birthdate of the other son of his, E. A. (Erve). Still working on it........... I do not know anything. so far, about the John Burton (dates & etc) Sorry, I can't be of more help at the moment

Harris, because I don't know anything about his family. I have been assuming he was the son of Jackson Harris, found on the 1850 census in Obion Co. with son James age 8, because they lived only a few houses from his wife, Ellen Dowdy. There was not a son Isaac or Green listed. I looked through my research for Isaac Green and only found him on the 1900 Census in Stoddard Co., MO as family #345 -- is this correct? I also found an I.S. Harris (possible spelling error) as a private from Obion Co. in the 47th TN Infrantry CSA Co. H, muster date of May-June 1862 in vicinity of Kenton. When do you think I.G. came to Stoddard Co.? -- My James came about 1880, but is not listed on that Census. I don't have any other information that might connect them.
Thought I would send this to the lists. It can be a big help to some of us. This is just an excerpt of the Washington Post newspaper article.............. Gay Mathis To view the entire article, go to http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A6197-2002Oct23.html 1880 Census Now Online By D'Vera Cohn The 1880 Census went online today, offering a clickable way to research family genealogy or look up famous Americans such as Frederick Douglass or Alexander Graham Bell, both of whom lived in Washington at the time. The searchable database of 50 million names went on a free Internet site sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, www.familysearch.org. The church also put up records from the 1881 Canadian Census. "A name may be all you need to find your ancestors in this searchable index," said Richard E. Turley Jr., a church official. Turley said of all the records available to people searching for 19th century ancestors, "none is superior to the 1880 Census." The 1880 Census is a snapshot of a turning point in U.S. history, when the country was recovering from the Civil War and plunging into an industrial era. It was only the second count to record African Americans as individuals with first names and last names, rather than as property. The 1880 Census also occurred at a time of rising immigration, and for the first time asked people to list their parents' birthplaces. It also recorded the relationship of everyone in the household for the first time. The census project is among a series of family history projects sponsored by the church, and made available for free. Access to more recent census data, up to 1930, is available on the Internet from companies offering paid subscriptions. It took 17 years for church volunteers to transcribe handwritten 1880 census records and type them into the database. Researchers and historians at the University of Minnesota then spent hundreds of hours standardizing the names and localities, as well as organizing the information so it could be easily retrieved.
