Donald, I have Walkers in Obion, but I don't think they were there before 1844. However, I have learned never to say never. <g> The following information was generously shared with me by Bert Smith. Robert and Jincy Walker are my 3rd great grandparents on my mother's side, through their son James B. Walker and his son Waller Bright Walker. Karen Moore Waugh Tampa, FL Notes: Robert & Jincey Walker came to Obion County from Floyd County, Indiana between 1840 & 1850. They were followed by their oldest son, James B. Walker, who purchased his first farm in Obion County in May, 1851 for $820.00. Robert, Jincey, and their youngest son, William Joseph all died in the middle of January, 1867 from an unknown cause. James B. Walker was a prominent farmer and land owner around Troy and Obion. He served as Sheriff of Obion County during the 1860's. Buried at Campground Cemetery in Troy, TN are: Crawford B. All the Walker children stayed in Indiana except James B. James B. & Selena Jane married in Indiana. Selena had a sister named Susan Westmoreland (1848-1936) who married Preston Rider. The Westmorelands came from South Carolina and Virginia. Another name for Jincey was maybe Jane. Robert, Jincey, and James B. were born in Kentucky. Selena was born in South Carolina. James B. owned 2 farms; the first was near the G. B. Allen farm, and the second was in the Wolverine Community. There is a J. Knox Walker who may fit into all this who was in the 2nd Tenn Vol Inf Reg from May, 1861 to May 1862.

Jones, wife Rosalee Johnson Jones and family? Around 1908-1916 they lived in the 6th Civil District of Obion County, TN. They were both born in Middle Tennessee, probably in the 1880s. They had at least one child, a son, Samuel Henderson Jones b. Sept 7. 1908 in the 6th District of Obion Co.. Samuel died June 30, 1916 and is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Rives in Obion County, Tennessee. What did "O.D." stand for? Who were his parents? Did they have other children, etc....? Looking to share information on Anderson Hall WALKER, born September 8,1801, and descendents. Donald Oden

I understand that William Burgess Cunningham was a long-time Cumberland Presbyterian minister in Obion County and that in the early years of his ministry, he served at several rural churches in the county, including Antioch Church, which was a combination Methodist and Cumberland Presbyterian church. Later, he became pastor of the Union City Church. Rev. Cunningham's father was a Confederate soldier. I would like to find out who his parents and siblings were. Services were held at mausoleum chapel at Royal Oaks Memorial Gardens in Brookville, Ohio, Tuesday. She was born Oct. 31, 1923, in Samburg, daughter of the late John F. and Lottie (Hutchcraft) Cochran. She is also survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert Watkins; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Bonnie Yates of Dayton and Michael E. and Teri Watkins of Brookville; her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Mike Cramer of Burlington, Ill.; four grandchildren, James Yates Jr. and his wife, Christie, of London, Ohio, and Caleb Watkins, Callie Watkins and Calvin Watkins, all of Brookville; her great-granddaughter, Kennedy Marie Yates of London; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Cochran of Samburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John F. "Son" Cochran and James Edward Cochran; and her sister, Edna Leonard.

Does anyone have any information on the poor house that was listed on the 1880 census? According to the census the poor house was operated by George W. Calhoun. At that time Nancy E. Moss and son Joseph Moss were living at the poor house. I have found no info on Nancy or Joseph since the 1880 census. Was there a cemetery located at the poor house or a record of deaths kept of residents? Trying to determine what happened to Nancy and Joseph. TIA Jean Masoner

I have been able to find the following children for William and Mary in the Marshall County, TN, records: Alanson (Lance) L., Joshua, John, Margaret, Susan, Mediam (Medde Ann) and Elizabeth. I have found the following marriages for these children: Lance married Dorothy McLemore, Joshua (no marriage found yet), John married Eliza Barham, Lovey M. married George W. Heskett, Margaret married Wm. Lauller, Susan married Joseph Clymore and Elizabeth married William C. Heskett. At least Lance, Lovey and Susan moved to Obion County, TN.
