Even though I do recall having heard some of the names previously which you mention, I am unable to provide the kind of detail which you are searching for. As for the name Tom Bennett, yes I would say also that it sounds of English extraction. However, do not count on that as guaranteed because it was not uncommon for German people to Anglicize their names for a multritude of reasons. One of which, it was easier for other people to pronounce in a country where most everyone spoke English anyway. If you will send me a direct E-Mail I might be able to get you in contact with some other Edwards family researchers who can give additional info. Stay in touch. Rudy Burd

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TgB.2ACE/178.51.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks for the reply Rudy, While H.H. Edwards was in Dent County, MO his son Hugh had my gg-grandmother Nancy Elizabeth (after her mother), but she always went by Lizzie in Salem. Little Hugh moved back to Union City when his father died and I guess his first wife died soon after that (Lizzie's mother). He was married to a Mary on the 1880 census. From here it gets a little blurry, my g-grandmother Etta Elizabeth was born in TN, also and her father was named Tom Bennett. I'm not sure if Lizzie married this guy, I can't find a marriage license. Lizzie had Etta in 1888 and at least three other children before her. Lizzie then moved back to MO somewhere and had two more children, Eva and Callie. Then she came back to Union City and in the early 1900's moved the three girls and husband W.H. Otto to Clarita, Oklahoma. This is where my grandmother was born. I really hoped someone would have passed down information regarding Lizzie and Tom Bennett. He was suppose to be born in Germany, but Bennett sounds mor! e English to me. Also, I cant find where little Hugh and Nancy Elizabeth Edwards are buried. Thanks for your help. I'm finding that my family is getting rather large. :-)

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/TgB.2ACE/178.51.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi, Leona, Glad to see some more of the family show up. Cousin Jan Frey forwarded your response to me. We (Jan) and I, are descended from the same Edwards family as yourself. We come down from Charlotte (Lottie) Edwards who married Lemuel Prince Curlin in Wilson County TN. about 1822 I think it was. They were early day settlers in Obion County. Both, and several more family members are buried out at Shady Grove Cem (not far from the grave of Hugh) a couple miles out of Union City. Other family members are buried in Union City at what is called the Confederate Cem. The oldest picture which I know of, and it woulden't be your direct line, is my great great grandmother Mary Ann Charlotte Hubbs Whitley Riley. She was the daughter of Charlotte (Lottie) and Lemuel Prince Curlin. She had married first to a Mr. Hubbs whom died in a wagon accident, then she married my great great grandfather James Riley Whitley. He was the son of Marcus Whitley. Anyway the picture is a family scene with 12 to ! 15 individuals present and all identified. They had been in NC prior to TN and had come into NC from VA. I am not sure when they arrived in VA. but were in Mecklenberg County at the starting of the American Rev. I would imagine they were in New York prior to that as they are supposed to be the same family as the famous Robert Edwards land grant dispute is about. Nice to hear from you Leona. Cousin Rudy.
