    2. You can search the 1880 census online at www.familysearch.org. I just tried it thought, limiting the search to born 1875 +/- 10 years, in Tennessee, in the census in Obion Co., TN. The closest match was a black woman, b. 1869, daughter of Toney Wilson. If you know they were somewhere else by 1880 you can check again. Maybe your birthdate is wrong. Have you found her in the census for 1900? That would help verify her birth date. Do you have her death certificate (may not be one for MO before 1910), her obituary, the family information sheet from the funeral home, information from her tombstone? Do you know the names of her siblings? You can get her obituary (if there is one) from the Missouri Historical Society, provided you know her date of death (a year is not sufficient). Do you know if her whole family moved to Stoddard Co., MO? That's about all I can think of. It's tough to find a Wilson family who moves around. Came with another family consisting of one named Jerimiah Clark (I am also interested in anything pertaining to him. Mary Jennings returned to Indiana in the early 1860's and Jerimiah went to Illinois. I am trying to find out why they moved to Tennessee and what brought them back to Indiana. Some of this group was listed as being Mullotoes. At some times all of them were listed as Mullotoes. I seems odd to me that people of this race would leave a free state to go to a slave state, esp at that time in our history. I just feel there was some good reason for this. This family is part of my husband's ancestory and we are interested in finding any info possible. Thanks

    1. Re:[TNObion] Golden/Reese Aleander Union City TN
    2. It sounds like this family should be listed in the 1900 census in TN. You can use the census soundex (index by soundex code) to find them. Golden is an unusual first name that should stand out. Just scan through all the Alexander families until you find one with a child named golden b. 3/1896. Then check for the same family in 1910 (but you have the father's first name so it's a little easier). You can make this easier by getting the name of her parents first. You can get her death certificate which should list the names of her parents. With her birth date, you can check the Social Security Death Index to find her date of death (most of those listed are after 1963). You can write to the Social Security Administration and request a copy of her SS-5 (Application for Social Security Number). The SS-5 is written in her own handwriting and lists the names of her parents including her mother's maiden name. You can check the cemetery where she is buried and ask for more information at their office. If you know or can find out the funeral home that handled her funeral, you can ask them for a copy of the family information sheet. That includes all of the information normally found in an obituary, parents names, spouse name, children's names, and it could include surviving brothers and sisters' names. Or you can look for an obituary if you have the date of death.
