    1. [TNOBION] 7th Tennessee Cavalry history
    2. The Taylors
    3. For those interested there is a book "The Seventh Tennessee Cavalry," by J. P. Young - a Private in Company A. It is published by the Morningside Bookshop. The book was first published in Nashville in 1890 and this is a reprint and is available for sale. It has a roster of all companies and quite a few pictures of the men in the companies, officers and privates also. I know the commander of Company A was Lt. Col. William F. Taylor (my ggg grandfather) and was from Obion, near Mt. Pelia. I am not sure where the other men were from, but suspect locally. If anyone else had a relative in the Seventh, please feel free to contact me. William is buried in the Taylor cemetery near Mt. Pelia. Bill PS. this isn't an advertisement. It was the only way I could transfer it on this suddenly cranky computer! Rassafras!!!! 1. [TNOBION] BLANKENSHIP's
    2. Hello Everyone, This is my first post to the list, and it isnt a very good one. The reason being is that I am looking for my Calvin Blankenship without much to go on. I found Calvin BLankenship married to Deliah on the 1850 Texas County, MO census. Living next door to Calvin is WIlliam Blankenship and his wife, Pamela Jane. Since Calvin was only a couple of years older than William, I have to assume they are related, if not brothers, because they were the only Blankenships in TExas County at this time and they were both born in TN and both of their wives in IL (just thought that was interesting). SInce Calvin Died during the civil war (there is no record on him except a muster roll), he wasnt around when the government started asking where their parents were born. I followed Deiliah until 1880. I estimate her time of death between 1881-1883. I followed William, and he lists his parents as also being born in TN ..... although its a shot in the dark, is there anyone out there that has a link to a BLANKENSHIP's that had a son named Calvin, (who was born abt 1820-25) and/or William (b. abt.1823-1826). I do not have Calvin's parents names or their wives maiden names. I am hoping to connect them to someone who might be able to shed some light on this for me .... Thank you in advance!!!! Thank you! 1. [TNOBION] Taylor Cemetery near Mt. Pelia
    2. The Taylors
    3. Hi all, long time. I'm back. Went back to lovely Weakley and Obion Counties, and found and checked out the Taylor Cemetery. Here is what I found for all you lovely people. If someone wants the check to see if all these people are in the Cemetery Book, you are welcome. I added a little info to fill out each person genealogically. (Is this permitted?) Had the very good luck, with a lot of digging, to find that William F. Taylor was a Lt. Colonel in the CSA and was in the 7th Tennessee Cavalry. With still more digging I found that there is a history of the Seventh Cavalry written by a Private in William's company. Lt. Colonel Taylor is mentioned 32 times in the book, and best of all, there is the first picture any of us has ever seen of him. My Father died not knowing about the CSA hero he was named for. Family feud? We shall probably never know. Persistence pays off, plus having people who know the Civil War history, like Randel Price at Ole Miss. He helped and encouraged me. I found William in the NARA records when they said there were none! I checked the original in the Memphis library. We found the cemetery grown up with weeds, and stones knocked down and broken (by cows). We cleaned up the cemetery and repaired the stones. A true labor of love. Keep digging - they may be out there after all. Some of Williams uncles and aunts are still lost in Stewart Co, and Mother and brothers and sisters lost in Obion. Bill Taylor of Virginia formerly of Martin Taylor Cemetery - located apx. ½ Mile South West of Cane Creek Cemetery, near Mt.
