    3. Posted on: Obion Co. Tn Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Tn/Obion/1509 Surname: BROWN, KELLY ------------------------- James was b. 1785 in VA, arrived in TN about 1803-9, md 1-unknown, had at least these two children--Edward Henry b. abt 1809, Joseph G., and possibly others, md 2- Helen Anna Kelly, had Stephen Woodruff, Michael Servitis, William Erby, Albina, Keziah, Sarah, Sirena. James is known to have lived in Blount Co, Obion Co, McMinn Co, TN; Murray Co., GA and DeKalb Co., AL where he died about 1876 probably at the home of his son "Steve" Brown near the Ider community. This has long been one of my brick walls, would appreciate any information. James and his sons were mill wrights and worked in timber, possibly one reason for moving around so much.

    3. JANE F. GREER, MARTHA GREER, W.E. GREER, WILL ROB GREER, ALLENE GREER. Seeking information on the parents/family of JANE F. GREER. Also seeking to know where she is buried in TN. My great-grandmother, JANE F. GREER, was born about 1845. I don’t know what state, but she was in Giles County TN about 1872 when she married HUGH COOK BROWNLOW, in or near Giles County TN. Her mother’s name was MARTHA. Her father (or other relative) may have been W.E. GREER, who witnessed a Brownlow family Last Will & Testament in Obion County TN. A younger relative was ALLENE GREER. We found a photo of an infant with “ALLENE GREER” written on back. No dates. Another younger relative was WILL ROB GREER. We found a photo made in LEWISBURG TN of a boy about a year old. Family legend is that Jane died before 1890 . About 1890 Hugh Cook Brownlow migrated to TX. Jane’s mother, Martha, also came to Texas with Hugh and the 4 children. The children of JANE F. GREER and HUGH COOK BROWNLOW were: Nettie Lorraine Brownlow, Fanny Brownlow, Henry Frank Brownlow and Mattie Francis Brownlow. All born in TN before 1890. I have a lovely photo made of Jane about 1870-80's. She was a beautiful woman with mysterious eyes. I will share this photo if related. Thank you for taking time to read and respond if you have a link. Mr. Leland Carter Texas

    3. My brickwall is James R. ROBERTSON who was born in TN in 1815. His wife was Eliza C. RIGGS who was also born in TN in 1816. This family was supposed to have been in Obion Co. TN in 1847 when one of their daughters was born. They were listed in the census of 1860 in Weakley Co. TN. They moved shortly thereafter to Wayne County, MO where they eventually settled on the spelling of ROBINSON for their surname. I would like to find, at the very least, the parents and/or siblings of James and Eliza. One of their daughters also married a DAVIS but I don't know if this was in TN or MO. Tn Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Obion/1505 Surname: OGuin, Gore, Geurin ------------------------- My mom's father, Harlan O'GUIN, was born in Paris, Henry Co. TN. His mother was unwed and her name was Cora E. O'GUIN, daughter of Newton O'GUIN and Elizabeth Geurin/Guerin O'GUIN. Cora was born in Calloway Co. KY. Have info on the family from there forward but little info on Newton and on back. Cora married a widower, Jefferson Davis GORE, who had children by a prior marriage: Virginia and a son, Elzie, who married my father's divorced mother, Roxanne Lee MOORE BLANSET BRIDEGAN DICKS. Since Elzie and Harlan were stepbrothers, my parents were stepcousins. Would be interested in finding the O'GUIN link to the Old Sod. Mom went to Ireland and couldn't find anyone in Ireland with that name even in the old records. Could this be an adulteration of a Welsh name? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    1. [TNOBION] D.W. Wicker - Immortal Thirteen
    2. Dora Burke
    3. Hello Everyone....Happy New Year to All D.W. Wicker, one of the Immortal Thirteen and the Obion Avalanche, Co H, Ninth Tn Infantry, was David Walker Wicker, youngest son of John and Naomi (Walker) Wicker and brother of my great--great grandfather James M. Wicker. David "D.W." contracted smallpox at the end of the war while traveling home to Obion Co, TN onboard the enemy's ship, the Union Line & Ohio Bell on the Mississippi River, and was rendered blind. Although John Cavanaugh's Historical Sketch of Obion Avalanche, published in 1922, from his rememberances, places David's "D.W." death about 1891, he actually died in 1901 and is buried in Sardis Cemetery - Obion Co. Mr. Cavanaugh's sketch certainly is a very vivid individual account and valuable tool for research.....but a certain amount of caution needs to be attached to it. There is a David B. Wicker/Whicker who married Sarah Russell in 1869 in Fulton Co, KY and shown on the 1870 Obion Co, Tn Census with a dau, Pleasant, born 1870......I have not been able to determine whether this is, in fact, the same David W. Wicker. Records thus far have shown David was never married and that he was, in fact, divorced. If divorce info exists....I would surely appreciate a "look-see". Any Wicker or Russell association which could help set the record straight on this part of my family line would be greatly appreciate. Dora

But it did give me an address they were living at in 1938 which put them in a state I didn't know they had been at. So this might be what the case was there. That might have been all they could find on the person she wanted. Hopefully, she just read the letter wrong, since there are alot more SS-5's I've been wanting to order. 3. What the woman was saying on Genforum is that she requested a copy of the original SSI application or SS-5, and what she got was only the Numident report, and not a photocopy of the original application.. They told her in the letter that was all they were giving out now, from my understanding. She stated that she had used the letter generated by Ancestry.com to request this, and that asks for the SS-5 . The Social Security Online Website lists that they will give you a photocopy as we are used to getting (photcopy of original application). So I don't know, for sure if that is going to be the norm or not just receiving the Numident report as stated by Darrell Blevens, Freedom of Information Officer, and not a photcopy of the application. I have e-mailed them and posed that question. So, I will have to wait, and see when I get an answer. Elviria Hi,did you go to ancestry.com-print out the form letter for the person, and send it in?I've sent for 7 or 8, at various times-always have received the SS-5 form-filled out at time individual filed for S.S. #.Fee-$7.00-personal check-o.k.;no sase, needed. Elvira Nan Cattell Yes, I did go to Ancestry.Com & I sent my check, & in the past I have always gotten a copy of the actual SS-5 form. My grandfather was born in Carlise co, KY and I have a church record of Daniel and his first wife from St Jerome Church in Fancy Farm, KY. All I know about Daniel's father is what was written in the family Bible. It listed Daniel's father as Edward O'Connor. We believe he was born in Ireland. I know Daniel died soon after my grandfather was born in 1889. According to grandfathers birth record, Daniel's age is given as 35 years old, this is 1889, so that would make him born 1854. However, Daniel's birth is listed as 1842 in the Bible as well in the church record. I saw your record in World Connect and hope you may have some information that would tie in to my O'Connor line. Thanks for any help. Shirley [email protected] - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
