MINNIE I. - age 91, of Caryville, ========================================= ROBBINS, RETHA ELMORE MARLOW - age 86 of Lake City, Tenn., passed away Thursday, December 11, 2003 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was a member of Covenant Life International of Lake City. She was preceded in death by husbands, Enoch Marlow and Bill Robbins; her parents, Fred and Lucy Elmore; 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Survivors: daughters, Nellie Mullikin & husband, Felton of Charleston, SC, Darlene Estes & husband, Roy of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; sons, Ira Marlow & wife, Elizabeth of Caryville, Tenn., Jerry Marlow & wife, Cherryl of Meridian, Miss.; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; host of other relatives and friends. Family would like to thank the staff of Lake City Healthcare for the special care they provided to her. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 12, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Tony McAfee, Rev. C.H. Baird and Rev. Bill Waddell officiating. Interment will be Saturday December 13, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Ridgeview Cemetery in Lake City. ROBINSON, JOHN HENRY - age 69, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after an extended illness. He had looked forward to the day that the Lord would take him to his glorious home in Heaven. Born June 7, 1934 in Oliver Springs, he was the son of Reuben H. and Joe Anna Smith Robinson both now deceased. He was a life-long resident of Anderson County and graduated from Oliver Springs High School in 1953. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served in The Korean Conflict. He was President of The Norwood Boy's Club from 1967-1972. He was employed by Oak Ridge Associated Universities, Union Carbide and Martin Marietta for many years and medically retired from Martin Marietta in 1986. He enjoyed working with the youth at Norwood Boy's Club and farming. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening and watching his grandchildren play. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, J.B. Robinson (also a brother, Billy J. and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth and Minnie Janiel, who died as infants). He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Winona "Winnie" Robinson; step-son, Richard D. Gray and wife, Judy; son, Michael H. Robinson; daughter, Michelle Lisenbee and husband, Joe, all of Oliver Springs; three grandchildren, James Gray, Jordan A. Ledford and Joseph Keathley-Lisenbee. He is also survived by two sisters, Blanna J. Smith and husband, Bill, of San Marcos, CA and Ruth E. Freels and her husband, Ben, of Baltimore, MD; his uncle, Harold Smith and wife, Mary Kate, of the Batley community; four nieces, Barbara Dykes and husband, Kenny, of Riverside, CA, Pam Merriam and husband, Bobby, of Escondido, CA, Donna Smith also of San Marcos, CA; Dewan Lamb and husband, Gary, of Knoxville and one nephew, Roger Smith of San Marcos, CA; sisters-in-law, Wilma Cooley and husband, Charles, of Oliver Springs, Lillie Donald and Nora Crites and husband, Tommy; brothers-in-law, John Donald and James Donald and his wife, Linda, all of Oak Ridge. His family said he will be remembered and missed by many relatives and friends, including Charles Ward and wife, Ethel and Ray Patterson who are considered his special friends. He won the hearts of many nurses during his illness, to whom the family are especially grateful. The funeral services will be held Thursday, December 11, 2003 at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home, Rev. Luke Kidwell and Dr. Billy Edmonds officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial and graveside services will be held Friday, December 12, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. SHANLEVER, RALPH L. - age 93, of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at Windwood Health Care Center. Mr. Shanlever was a lifelong resident of Anderson County. He was a prominent farmer who was very active in the community service. His service on the Anderson County School Board, Draft Board, and agriculture boards covered many years. A member of Dutch Valley United Methodist Church and Dutch Valley Community Club for most of his life. Preceded in death by brothers, Rufus, Samuel & Edmond Shanlever; sisters, Maxi Shanlever & Lassie Reeves. Survivors: wife of 64 years, Dorothy Shanlever of Clinton; sons, Roy & wife, Charlotte Shanlever of Birmingham, Ala., James & wife, Sharon Shanlever of Scottsboro, Ala., Raymond & wife, Kay Shanlever of Knoxville; grandsons, Jeff & wife, Tricia Shanlever, Charles & wife, Alice Shanlever, Richard & Mike Shanlever. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2003 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with Rev. Brenda Poole and Rev. David Hanes officiating. The interment will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Cemetery. The family has requested that memorials be made to Dutch Valley United Methodist Church, 2055 Sulphur Springs Road, Clinton, Tenn. 37716. She was a Charter Member of Bearwallow Baptist Church and was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 415 of Caryville. Preceded in death by husband, Otis Shetterly; daughter, Irene (Toots) Peterson; twin daughters, Uldene and Christine Shetterly; son, Albert Shetterly; parents, Edd and Clara Seagraves McGhee; step-mother, Antha McGhee; brothers, Leo, Edward, Jr., Boots, J.T. and Roger; sisters, Aileen Rains and Betty Caine. Survivors: son, Bill Shetterly and wife, Jean, of Glen Burnie, MD; daughters, Faye Boshears and husband, Cal of Jacksboro, Jo Ann Parks and husband, Jehu of Caryville; 11 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian Rains of Columbus, Ohio, Coleen Wright of Muncie, IN, Katherine Smith of Jamestown, TN; special friend, Bobbie Martin of Lake City; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Bearwallow Baptist Church, Rev. Ralph Shetterly and Rev. George Asbury officiating. Interment will be in Marlow Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Walters Funeral Home.
