    2. >From The Oak Ridger 19 Dec 2003 James Clifton Farmer, 83, of Oak Ridge, Callie Noreen Hall, 41, of Knoxville and formerly of Oliver Springs, Robert Allen Gray, 51, of Clinton, Bobbie Jean Huff Hoyle, 76, of Clinton, Gladys Buettgenbagh Ketterer, of Wichita, Kan., ========================================= James Clifton Farmer, 83, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born April 4, 1920, in Murphy, N.C., he was the son of James E. Farmer and Ella Elizabeth Allen Farmer. Mr. Farmer moved to Oak Ridge in 1946. He met and married his wife, Naomi Braden Farmer, after his arrival in Oak Ridge. He and his wife have lived in the Batley community of Anderson County and Oak Ridge since that time. Mr. Farmer was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and according to his family a heavily decorated soldier. He was wounded at the invasion of Normandy and received a purple heart for the injuries he sustained. After being wounded he continued to battle and assisted other soldiers who were also injured. In addition to the purple heart, he received a bronze star, an Oak Leaf Cluster, a World War II victory medal, and many other ribbons and medals. He was employed at the Oak Ridge K-25 site and retired in 1982 after 37 years of service. According to his family, Mr. Farmer was a faithful member of Batley Baptist Church since 1958, where he served as a deacon and was chairman and treasurer on the deacon board for many years. Mr. Farmer was a member and past master of Omega Masonic Lodge No. 536 F&AM. In addition, he was also the past Worthy Patron of the Oliver Springs Chapter 211 Order of the Eastern Star. Thirteen of his brothers and sisters also preceded him in death. In addition to his wife of 57 years, Mr. Farmer is survived by his son, Kenneth Farmer and wife, Gail, of the Solway community; his daughter, Missy Farmer Newport, of Clinton; two grandchildren, Amy Sluss and husband, Frankie, and Austin Newport, all of Clinton; two great-grandchildren, Blake Byrum and Grant Houser; and by a brother, Robert Farmer, of Murphy, N.C. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Howard Robbins and the Rev. Luke Kidwell officiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Callie Noreen Hall, 41, of Knoxville and formerly of Oliver Springs, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Born April 20, 1962, in Oak Ridge, she was the daughter of Gerstal Hall and Marie Hardwick Hall, both now deceased. Ms. Hall was a lifelong resident of East Tennessee. She was employed at Tennessee Technology Center at Knoxville. She was also a nursing assistant working in home health care. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David Kenneth Hall and Ernest Ray Hall. Ms. Hall is survived by her sister, Diane Hall, of Clinton; and by four brothers, Robert Hall and wife, Delores, and Steve Hall and wife, Teresa, all of Oliver Springs, Efford Hall of Clinton, and Byron Hall and wife, April, of Blaine. J.C. Perkey and Bill and Linda Cosey, all of Knoxville, are considered special friends. Her family said she will be remembered by many friends. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Garvan Walls officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Butler Cemetery in Oliver Springs. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Robert Allen Gray, 51, of Clinton, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. According to his family, Mr. Gray was saved at an early age and was a member of Inskip Baptist Church in Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Miller Gray; and by his grandparents, Margaret and Raymond Miller and Emma and Milas Gray. Mr. Gray is survived by his father and stepmother, Hayes Gray and Leah Byrge Gray, of Clinton; five aunts and uncles who he considered special, Charles Gray and wife, Dinah, Claude Gray and wife, Barbara, Dora Burchfield and husband, Mack, Eula Crumpley and husband, Clarance, and Ruth Alley; and by several other relatives. Gary Melton and Dennis Danielchuk are considered special friends. His family said he will be remembered by many friends. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Tom Byrge officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Farmers Grove Cemetery in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Bobbie Jean Huff Hoyle, 76, of Clinton, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Medical University of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Victor and Edith E. Gregg Huff; and by a sister, Carolyn Coffelt. Mrs. Hoyle is survived by her husband, Walter Donald Hoyle; her daughter, Trina Clinton and husband, Rodney; two grandchildren, Brittany Clinton and Brian Clinton; and by her nephew, James Coffelt and wife, Tonja. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Shiloh Cemetery in Pigeon Forge with the Rev. Ben Whitted officiating. Rawlings Funeral Home Inc. in Sevierville is in charge of arrangements. Gladys Buettgenbagh Ketterer, of Wichita, Kan., mother of Harold Ketterer of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, in Wichita. Mrs. Ketterer was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Wichita. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ketterer Sr. In addition to her son and his wife, Sherry, Mrs. Ketterer is survived by her daughter, Sandra Ketterer-Wells, of Wichita; and by four grandchildren, DeAnna Ketterer of Springfield, Va., H.E. Ketterer III of Knoxville, Chris Garcia of Wichita, and Stephanie Garcia of San Diego, Calif. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County, P.O. Box 7021, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-3321.
