He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jellico and was employed by the Campbell County Board of Education. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Daniel and Isabell Taylor. Survivors: wife, Betty Jane Chitwood of Jellico; daughter, Roxanna Chitwood of Jellico; son and daughter in law, Benjamin and Holly Chitwood of Lexington, Ky.; mother, Alice Chitwood of Jellico; sister and brother in law, Carolyn and Bob Herron of Norwood, Ohio; aunt, Flossie Jones of Jellico; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Jellico from 4:30-7 p.m. Friday December 26, 2003 with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Trent Stewart and Rev. Jerome Walden officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2003 at Llewellyn Funeral Home for procession to Jellico Cemetery for graveside service and interment. HENSLEY, GLADYS MARIE (JENKINS) - 85, of Powell, passed away Tuesday, December 23, after a period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late Arlie and Vida Ellen DeMarcus Jenkins. Mrs. Hensley grew up in Kentucky and graduated from Knoxville Business College. She worked in a number of secretarial and managerial positions, including Fort Sheridan, Illinois during World War II; the Credit Bureau in Harlan, Kentucky; and Management Services, Inc. in Oak Ridge. She was preceded in death by: her husband of almost 59 years, James Anderson Hensley, Sr.; her brother Arlie Gene Jenkins and her grandson Jacob Farris also preceded her in death. She is survived by: her two sons, James Anderson Hensley, Jr. and his wife Judy of Bryson City, NC, and Rev. David Michael Hensley and wife Lynne of Newport, TN, and two daughters, Linda H. Dills and her husband William of Bryson City, NC, and Jane H. Vittorio and her husband Michael of Charlotte, NC. She had nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Henrietta Jenkins of Jefferson City, Bertie Bostic and husband Paul of Clinton, Ruth Friar of Knoxville, Elizabeth Breazeale and husband Earl of Oak Ridge, and Joyce Nicely and husband Bill of Powell, TN. She is also survived by special friend and caregiver Nena Sharbino and church friends Grat and Patty Atkinson. Mrs. Hensley was a devoted wife and mother, a committed Christian, and a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. Her family joins together to say thanks be to God and His son Jesus Christ for such a wonderful mother and Christian example. Funeral service 7:00 p.m. Friday December 26, at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church Rev. Kent Williams and Rev. Randy Macon officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in the Claxton Community. JARNAGIN, MABLE BLANCH - age 105, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2003 at Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville, TN. Mrs. Jarnagin was a member of the Oak Ridge Church of Christ in Oak Ridge, TN. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Melford Jarnagin; brothers, James Irvin, Lacy Irvin; sisters, Edmonia Goins, Anna Lou Lyons, and Willard Graham; nephew, Victor Graham. Surviving relatives include: sister, Willie V. Irvin; step- son, James Jarnagin and wife Gale; nephews, Thomas L. Goins and wife Elizabeth, Eugene Edward Clark and wife Barbara, Michael Graham; nieces, Katherine Summerour and husband Carl, Agnes Bush, Margaret Graham; great nephews, Kevin Clark and wife Jacquelyn, Dion Clark, Edwin Summerour and wife Brenda; great nieces, Maxine Dixon, Triva Bush, Angela Bush and Brenda Goins. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 27, 2003 from 11:30 A.M. to 12 Noon at Unity Mortuary Chapel, 1425 McCalla Avenue, Knoxville, TN with the funeral service to follow. Interment will be held at Bent Creek Cemetery in Whitesburg, TN. Arrangements by Unity Mortuary. MILLER, LEON L. - age 77, passed away Tuesday, December 23rd. at St. Mary's Hospice. Mr. Miller retired from Sprague Electric Co. in Clinton. Veteran of World War II having served in US Seabees. Favorite hobby was fishing below Melton Hill Dam with his friends. Member of Clinton First Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his parents, William H. Miller, former Anderson Co. School Superintendent, and Carrie Carden Miller; sister, Willie Maude Wolfe, and brother, Waller, Robert, William, Jr., Carroll Reece, Ivy Lyn, and Harry Miller. Survivors: wife of 50 years, Jean Miller of Clinton, Tenn.; daughters, Joy Miller Hollingsworth and her husband, Jim of Knoxville, Tenn., Glenda Peters and her husband, Randall of Charlotte, NC; son and his fiancé, Alan R. Miller and Renee Manning both of Knoxville; grandsons, Brian Hollingsworth, and Jonathan Peters; sister, Mary Grace Ellis of Jacksonville, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. RENTZ, CHARLES ALBERT - age 70 of Clinton, formerly of Jonesboro, Ark., passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at Briarcliff Health Care Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn. He was retired from the US Army after 30 years of service. He was in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. Rentz attended First Weslyan Church in Clinton, Tenn. He was preceded in death by parents, George T. and Bessie Cook Rentz; brothers, George, James, Estes and Lamar (Bud) Rentz. Survivors include: brother, Willie and wife, Merilee Rentz of Ellensburg, Wash., Holmes and wife, Fern Rentz of Elizabethtown, Ky.; sisters in law, Phyllis Rentz of Flatrock, Mich., Shirley Rentz of Plymouth, NC, Eunice Rentz of Clinton, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dewey and Alta Mae Carden Williams; sister, Edna Frederick Floyd and brother, Johnnie C. Williams; special friend, Margaret Allen Williams.
