    2. >From The Knoxville News Sentinel 21 Dec 2003 AKERS, EVELYN N. BERRIER, BOB R. - age 74, of Clinton, Tenn., HOWARD, MRS. SARAH MABLE BRASEL - age 97, of Wartburg, POWELL, LOUIS - age 73 of Clinton, Tenn. ========================================= AKERS, EVELYN N. - died Friday December 19, 2003 in St. Augustine, FL. Mrs. Akers was born in Anderson Co, TN July 23, 1916, the daughter of the late Fred & Hattie Nichols of Knoxville. She graduated Old Knoxville High School and attended Knoxville Business College. Mrs. Akers taught at Dr. Skinner's clinic for dyslexic children and was a teaching assistant at Southside Methodist Church Preschool, both in Jacksonville, Fla. She attended Lakewood Methodist Church in Jacksonville from 1960 until 2001 when she moved to St. Augustine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph G. Akers and three brothers, Earl, Frederick, & Roger Nichols. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Akers of Augusta, GA; son, Mike Akers and his wife, Andrea of St. Augustine; sister, Neva Rovere of Knoxville; two grandsons, Mike Akers, Jr. of Orange Park, FL and Will Akers of Orlando, FL and their mother, Mildred Gee Akers; several nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Harvey James of St. Augustine. There will be memorial services in Jacksonville and St. Augustine, FL. Family and friends will meet Monday at the main entrance to Highland Memorial Cemetery for an 11:00 A.M. graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. BERRIER, BOB R. - age 74, of Clinton, Tenn., passed away on Friday December 19, 2003 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Bob was born November 19, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Ethel Berrier; and brother, Fred, Jr.; and sister, Millie. Bro. Berrier was raised to the degree of Master Mason in Charles McKinney Lodge #433, Knoxville, Tenn., in 1954, and later transferred his membership to Faith Lodge #756 Oak Ridge, Tenn. He then joined The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in Knoxville, Tenn. in 1977. He served the rite as an accomplished ritualistic until the time of his death. His unwavering zeal for the Fraternity was rewarded by his investiture as a Knight Commander of the Court of Honor in 1983 and received the 33rd Degree of the Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction in Washington, DC on October 21, 1987. Bro. Berrier also served as President of the Oak Ridge Scottish Rite Club and performed as (RoBo) the clown with the Kerbela Shrine Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S. His dedication was well known, and his talents as a ritualistic will be an enduring legacy to his beloved craft for generations to come. He was retired employee of Martin Marietta Y-12 Plant. He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying in his younger days. He enjoyed taking Tai Chi classes in Oak Ridge & Knoxville. He was in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and later in the Air Force Reserve. The family wishes to thank Dr. Bill Robinson for his care of Daddy. Survivors: wife of 50 years, Charlotte Patt Berrier of Clinton, Tenn.; daughter & son in law, Barbara & Johnny Metcalf of Powell, Tenn.; son & daughter in law, Randy & Kim Berrier of Maryville, Tenn.; grandsons, Jason & Josh Metcalf of Powell, Tenn., Adam Berrier of Norris, Tyler Berrier of Johnson City, Tenn.; sisters, Joan Graham of Knoxville, Pat Munday of Texas; brother, Gary Berrier of Knoxville; aunt, Flora Berrier of Knoxville; step mother, Margaret Berrier of Knoxville; special nephew, Tim Patt; several nieces & nephews and a host of other friends and relatives. The family will receive friends on Sunday December 21, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at the Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the funeral service following in the chapel at 8 p.m. with the Rev. George Miller officiating. The interment will be on Monday December 22, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton, Tenn. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton in charge of all arrangements. HOWARD, MRS. SARAH MABLE BRASEL - age 97, of Wartburg, passed away Friday, December 19, 2003, in the Life Care Center of Morgan Co., Wartburg. She was a life long resident of Morgan Co. and a member of the First Baptist Church Wartburg. She was preceded in death by husband; Clayton C. Howard (formerly Morgan Co. Tax Assessor and Road Commissioner); Parents; Perry and Minnie Jones Brasel; daughter and son-in-law; Marjorie and Howard Shadden; son and daughter-in-law; Howard and Ollie Howard; infant grandson; Clayton Donald Howard, Jr.; Brother and sister-in- law; Glen and Evelyn Brasel; sister and brother-in-law; Lucille and Sam Jones. Surviving a very special twin sister; Muriel Brasel Newberry, of Wartburg; four grandchildren; Diane Shadden Sexton and husband, Darrell, of Maryville, David Howard and wife, Cathy, of Wartburg, Cheryl Howard Laymance and husband, David, of Wartburg, Chris Howard and wife, Katy, of Atlanta, Ga.; Daughter-in-law; Jeanette Howard, of Wartburg; Two step grandchildren; Diane Robbins and Lisa Curtis; 11 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and a very special niece; June Trout and several other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., December 22, 2003, at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg, with funeral services to follow. With Rev. Tom Mooty officiating. Graveside services will be Tuesday morning 11 a.m., December 23, 2003, in the Wartburg cemetery. POWELL, LOUIS - age 73 of Clinton, Tenn., passed away on Friday December 19, 2003 at the Park West Hospital in Knoxville.
