>From The Oak Ridger 26 Nov 2003 Lucy Avanelle Smith, 84, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born March 29, 1929, in Center Point, she was the daughter of John and Apphia Stanfill Burton. Mrs. Smith was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church, and was retired from Oak Ridge schools as the cafeteria manager. Her family said she enjoyed reading and working in her flower gardens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Smith Sr., and by two brothers, Dewey Thompson and Ed Thompson. Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons, Jimmy Smith of Oliver Springs and Harold A. Smith Jr. of Oak Ridge; one sister, Elizabeth Thompson of Knoxville; and by two grandsons, John Robert Smith and Harold A. Smith III. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
