Oakes, 79, Elmer Louis Olson, 97, of Oak Ridge, Dorothy Marie Swinderman, 92, of Oak Ridge, Dorothy Troupe, 63, of Oak Ridge, ========================================= Relia S. Oakes, 79, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at Baptist Hospital West in Knoxville. Born May 31, 1924, in Pennsylvania County in Virginia, she was the daughter of the Rev. Roar Scearce and Mary Chester Cook Scearce. At retirement, Mrs. Oakes had worked for Peoples Drug Store in Danville, Va., for 49 years. She had been a Resident of Farragut Health Care Center since Dec. 14, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wyatt Johnson "Jimmy" Oakes, on Aug. 6, 1987. Mrs. Oakes is survived by her son, Thomas W. Oakes and wife, Terry J., of Knoxville; her grandson, Travis Wyatt Oakes, of Knoxville; two nieces and a nephew, Barbara Ann Hodges, Karen Johnson and Tommy Scearce; and by several grandnieces and grandnephews all of Danville. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Danville Memorial Gardens in Danville. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to First Baptist Church/Concord Christian School, Relia Oakes Memorial Educational Scholarship, 11704 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37922, where her grandson attends.
