Peter Sothman, 70, of West Knoxville, Robert Bratcher, 79, of Oak Ridge, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Russell A. Cooper, 85, of Palm Bay, Fla., formerly of Oak Ridge, died Monday, March 29, 2004. Born Aug. 12, 1918, in Seekonk, Mass., he was the son of John and Catherine Morrissey Cooper. Mr. Cooper lived in Oak Ridge for 30 years and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Oak Ridge Country Club. Before he retired, he worked at the K-25 site for Union Carbide, where he was a construction engineer. When he moved to Palm Bay, he joined St. Joseph's Catholic Church and became active in the Knights of Columbus there. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marguerite Henderson, of Beavercreek, Ohio, and his brother, John Kenneth Cooper, of Chicago, Ill. Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marcy C. Cooper; his daughter, Anne C. Abbatiello and husband, Leonard, of Oak Ridge; his son, Russell A. Cooper Jr., of Palm Bay; four grandchildren, Catherine E. Haley of Oak Island, N.C., Kevin A. Abbatiello of Charleston, S.C., Heather N. Aguilar and husband, Felipe, of Augusta, Ga., and Amanda Cooper of Sweetwater; his great-grandson; and by several nephews and cousins. A memorial service was held Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Palm Bay Funeral Home with the burial at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. Deanna Michele "Dee" Ely, 28, of Knoxville, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at her home. She was a member of Covenant Life International in Lake City. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Feichter. She is survived by her husband, Ace Ely; two sons, Cody Allen Lee, 12, and Tyler James Feichter, 6; two stepchildren, Anna Ely and Joseph Ely, both 8; her mother and stepfather, Vicki and Kevin Brown; her father, Frank Feichter; four brothers, Zachary Brown, 16, Tristan Brown, 15, Nathan Brown, 14, and Jarod Correll, 24, of Florida; a special aunt, Jaki Correll; her best friend, Katrina; and by several other special aunts, uncles, grandparents, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A memorial service will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004, in the chapel of Weaver Funeral Home in Knoxville with the Rev. Tony McAfee officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Ann Parker Hale, 84, of Chattanooga, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospice in Knoxville. She was a Church of Christ. She was a preceded in death by her husband, James Leon Hale; her parents, John M. and Annie Doyal Parker; and by four siblings, Mary Louise Parker, Elsie Parker Hale, John Parker and Helen Parker Pearce. Mrs. Hale is survived by her daughter, Ann Judkins and husband, Joe, of Oak Ridge; and by two grandchildren, Brant Judkins of Yokasuka, Japan, and Amanda Fowler and husband, Joel, of Chattanooga. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2004, at the U.S. National Cemetery in Chattanooga with the Rev. John Cupp officiating. Jesse James Humphrey, 88, of Heiskell, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Humphrey was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church. He was retired from the U.S. Forestry Department. During his employment, he worked at the "Heiskell Fire Tower." His family said he enjoyed hunting and other outdoor activities. He was a World War II veteran with the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Helen Humphrey; his parents, Berry and Martha Humphrey; three sisters, Mahalia Humphrey, Nilie Bridges and Stella Humphrey; and by two brothers, John Humphrey and Benn Humphrey. Mr. Humphrey is survived by two sons, David L. Humphrey and wife, Donna, of Heiskell, and Donnie C. Humphrey and wife, Bess, of Georgia; five grandchildren, Jessica Humphrey, Matt Humphrey, Don Humphrey, Karen Humphrey and Debbie Humphrey; and by two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2004, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Gary Jenkins officiating. Mr. Hunley was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. He was employed for the past 25 years as a sheet metal worker. He was currently employed by Bechtel Jacobs at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant. He was preceded in death by a grandson, James Ray Hunley, and by his mother-in-law, Mary Helen Ridenour. Mr. Hunley is survived by his wife of 35 years, Henrietta Ridenour Hunley; his daughter, Tammy Lee Bell and husband, Tim, of Andersonville; two sons, James R Hunley III and wife, Melissa, and Joseph R. "Jody" Hunley and wife, Miranda, all of Andersonville; five grandchildren, Brittany LouAnna Hunley, KayLee Nicole Hunley, Bobby James Hunley, William John and Wesley James Bell; and by his parents, James R. and Bernice Stooksbury Hunley, of Andersonville. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Hunley, of Andersonville; his brother, Steve Hunley and wife, Jane, of Powell; his father-in-law, Henry H. Charles William Kimbro, 74, a native of Harriman, died Saturday, April 10, 2004, at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, Wash. Born Feb. 8, 1930, in Roane County, he was the son of Earl and Blanche Rowan Kimbro. He attended Jamison Junior High School in Harriman. He went to Saginaw, Mich., to learn a trade and while there he lived with his uncle and aunt, William and Edna Rowan. Upon returning to Tennessee, he worked for Tennessee Valley Authority. Mr. Kimbro enjoyed music and played three instruments. He was offered the job of lead singer and playing in a band in Grand Rapids, Mich. According to his family, this talent took him all around the world. When his health began to fail, he retired to Suquamish, Wash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles William Rowan Sr. and James Earl and "Ma" Alice Kimbro. Mr. Kimbro is survived by his wife, Lucile Kimbro; two sons, Charles Kimbro Jr. and Chad Kimbro; his devoted sister, Carrie Barksdale; and by his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended relatives of the Gallaher, Moore and Kimbro families which settled in the Blair and Everton communities. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2004, at the McCarroll Cemetery in Harriman with Val Barksdale officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Weatherford Mortuary. E. Peter Sothman, 70, of West Knoxville, died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at his home. Mr. Sothman was retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a project manager. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and a graduate of the University of Maine College of Engineering. His family said he was an avid fisherman, stamp collector and golfer. Mr. Sothman was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Margaret Hyland Sothman. Mr. Sothman is survived by his wife of 35 years, Evelyn Sothman; and by his daughter, Patricia Vinyard and husband, Chris, of Kent, Ohio. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004, at All Saints Catholic Church with the Rev. Chris Michelson officiating.
