Collins, 78, of Heiskell, John Woodrow Edwards, 82, of Oak Ridge, Edward Maurice "Tom" Kittrell, 94, of Kingston, Lee A. Smith Jr., 83, of Oak Ridge, Judy Williams, 64, of Oliver Springs, Amy Leann Matthews, 31, of Oliver Springs, Hubert "Squeaky" Shearin, 89, of Oak Ridge, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ James F. Collins, 78, of Heiskell, died Saturday, April 24, 2004, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge. Mr. Collins was a retired mechanic with East Tennessee Ford in Knoxville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Union County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Nettie Collins, and a brother, William Collins. Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Marie Collins; two daughters, La Vern Perry, of Heiskell and Linda Wilkerson and husband, David, of Andersonville; and by four sons, Jerry Collins and wife, Dorothy, and Barry Collins and wife, Lori, all of Powell, Jimmy Collins of Heiskell and Larry Collins and wife, Audrey, of Oak Ridge. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Hooks, of Heiskell; two brothers, Calvin Collins and wife, Wanda, of Heiskell and Howard Collins of El Paso, Texas; his sister-in-law, Frances Cooper, of Springfield, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Teresa, Jeffery, Derek, Christy, Tommy, Ashley, Jess, Blakley, Alivia, Austin, Wade and Will; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Wayne, Kelsie and Christopher; several nieces, nephews and friends; and by four special friends, Karen, Lisa, Melanie and Michell. The family would like to thank the staff at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge for the special care and kindness and love given to Mr. Collins and all of his family during his stay. "God bless each and every one of you," his family said. The funeral was Tuesday, April 27, 2004, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Joe McCoy and the Rev. Dewayne Fortner officiating. Burial was Wednesday at New Loyston Memorial Garden in Union County. John Woodrow Edwards, 82, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born July 25, 1921, in Franklin, N.C., he was the son of A.J. and Daisy Baldwin Edwards . Mr. Edwards was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army Air Corp in the 8th Air Force, 25th Bomb Group in the European Theater from 1942 to 1945. He married Mae Frady on April 30, 1950, and graduated from Western Carolina University in 1954. That same year he came to Oak Ridge to work as a photographer at the K-25 site and retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems in 1986. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Mr. Edwards is survived by his son, Bill Edwards and wife, Judy, of Kingston; his daughter, Shirley McCartney and husband, Rob, of Oak Ridge; nine grandchildren, Steve Edwards, Robert Edwards, Wayne Smith, John Smith, Jerry Smith, Melanie Edwards, Jennifer Scarbrough, Jacob McCartney and Caleb McCartney; three great-grandchildren; and by five sisters, Gladys Tallent, Louise Gibson, Allia Mack, DeeDee Starback and Wilma Roper. The family requests any memorials be in the form of contributions to Robertsville Baptist Church, 251 Robertsville Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. A private service is planned with burial in Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Edward Maurice "Tom" Kittrell, 94, of Kingston, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge. Born March 23, 1910, in Oakdale, he was the son of Halcie Wilson and Frederick Monroe Kittrell. According to his family, Mr. Kittrell was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He worked for Tennessee Valley Authority a number of years and retired from Union Carbide in 1975. He was a charter member of Andersonville Masonic Lodge and a member of First Baptist Church Kingston for 49 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Pearl Howard Kittrell; and by two brothers, Louis and Charles. Mr. Kittrell is survived by his son, Ronald Kittrell, of Oak Ridge; his granddaughter, Simone K. Wright and husband, David A. Wright, of Fort Worth, Texas; his great-grandson, Cameron A. Wright, of Fort Worth; his brother, Merle Kittrell, of Seagoville, Texas; his special friend, Cathy Taylor, of Rockwood; and his stepgrandson, Matt Smith, of Oak Ridge. His family would like to give a special thanks to nurses and physicians at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge and the staff and nurses at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004, at First Baptist Church Kingston with the Rev. Dr. Roy Graves and the Rev. Charles Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Crab Orchard Cemetery in Oakdale. His nephews, Donald Kittrell, Evert Kittrell, Louis Kittrell, Gerald "Spook" Kittrell, Jim Humphreys and Steve Kittrell, and his great-grandson, Cameron Wright, will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg is in charge of arrangements. Lee A. Smith Jr., 83, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge after an extended illness. Born in 1920 in Jefferson County, Mr. Smith was the oldest child of Lee and Virginia Anderson Smith. Mr. Smith served in the Army Air Corp during World War II, completing a tour in Japan during the occupation. He retired in l984 after 38 years of service with Union Carbide and Martin Marietta Energy Systems at the K-25 site. According to his family, after his retirement, Mr. Smith enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Mr. Smith was a member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Brandon Smith; and by four children, Brandon Smith and wife, Jean Richardson, of Palatine, Ill., Lynne Smith of Highland Heights, Ky., Stanley Smith and wife, Beth Summers Smith, of Oak Ridge and Jeffrey Smith of Claxton. He is also survived by his brother, Ruble Smith, of Morristown; many nieces and nephews; and by his grandchildren, Theron Smith and Lacey Smith, both of Oak Ridge, and Gavin Smith of Palatine. According to his wishes, Mr. Smith's body was donated to the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2004, in the chapel of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville. Judy Williams, 64, of Oliver Springs, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at her home. Mrs. Williams was a member of Kelly Town Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Williams, and daughter, Darla C. Sides. Mrs. Williams is survived by her son, Andy Williams, of Oliver Springs; her brother, Louie Lowe, of Devonia; three sisters, Joy Justice of Oliver Springs, Rheda Brown of Litchfield, Ariz., and Delores Marloe of Petros; her granddaughter, Shasta Sides, of Nashville; several nieces and nephews; a special nephew, Dennis Daniels; and by several other relatives and friends. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2004, in the chapel of Jones Mortuary in Clinton with the Rev. Garvan Walls officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on the Oliver Springs Highway in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Amy Leann Matthews, 31, of Oliver Springs, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. Hubert "Squeaky" Shearin, 89, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge.
