From The Oak Ridger 22 Aprt 2004 Virginia Lee Moore, 90, of Oak Ridge, Hansford Harold Osborne, 81, Judith Tuck Barber, 62, of Gainesville, Fla., William Jasper Martin, 87, of Knoxville, formerly of Oak Ridge \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\ Virginia Lee Moore, 90, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at the NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge. Born July 1, 1913, in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of Raymond C. and Coriene Ashbrook Lee. Mrs. Moore was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Herbert Moore, on April 30, 1993. Mrs. Moore is survived by her son, James H. Moore Jr. and wife, Susan, of Carmel, Calif.; her daughter, Claudia Moore Burke and husband, Wayne, of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Jay Moore of Fairbanks, Ark., Alice Hope of E. Hampton, N.Y., Rachel Hernandez of Spreckels, Calif., Dr. Christopher Kromer of Nashville and Erin K. Fawcett of Toledo, Ohio; and by 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2004, at the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church with the Rev. Jake Morrill officiating. The family requests any memorials be in the form of contributions to the American Stroke Association, P.O. Box 409410, Atlanta, GA 30384-9410. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Hansford Harold Osborne, 81, died Monday, April 19, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, due to complications of congestive heart failure. Born Jan. 22,1923, in Jonesville, Va., he was the son of Eula and Ora Osborne. A veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II, Mr. Osborne served in the 616th Field Artillery Battalion of the 10th Mountain Division from 1940 until honorable discharge at the rank of 1st sergeant at war end in 1945. While in training at Camp Hale, Colo., he met Emma Redmond, of Leadville. They were later married in May 1944. He retired in 1985, after 40 years employment with Union Carbide Corp. in the Finance and Materials Department, at Paducah, Ky., and, since 1970, as chief purchasing agent at Oak Ridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sons, Ronald Dean and Hansford Harold Jr.; a sister, Betty Sue Stanley, of Salem, Ind.; and by his wife of 53 years, Emma Jean. Mr. Osborne is survived by his daughter, Donna Jean Livingston and husband, David, of Grand Junction, Colo.; his granddaughter, Heather Livingston, of Grand Junction; his son, Steven Osborne, of Oak Ridge; two sisters, Rita Servoss and husband, Larry, of Greeneville and Nathetta Pendergraft of Pennington Gap, Va.; two brothers, Bill Mullins and wife, Renee, of Oak Ridge and Donald Parsons of Johnson City; and by several nieces, cousins and extended family members. Mr. Osborne was a participant in the Vanderbilt University Ultimate Gift Program. The body has been donated to the medical school in Nashville for teaching and research study. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the Agape Help Center, c/o First Baptist Church, 1101 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at Weatherford Mortuary. A brief memorial service will follow with the Rev. Dr. Larry Dipboye officiating. Judith Tuck Barber, 62, of Gainesville, Fla., died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at her home. Born in St. Petersburg, Fla., she moved to Gainesville from Hialeah, Fla., 41 years ago. She was a retired internal auditor for the Alachua County School Board. Mrs. Barber was a member of Parkview Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, was active with church training and was a co-leader with the GROW group. Her family said she enjoyed reading, gardening and writing. In 2002, she co-authored a screenplay, "This Realm." Her husband, Charles E. "Ed" Barber, is the general manager of The Independent Florida Alligator, and for more than 38 years Mrs. Barber was an active supporter and "den mother" for students working at the newspaper. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Barber is survived by her daughter, Janet Wood, of Oak Ridge; her son, Christopher Barber, of New York, N.Y.; her mother, Jane K. Tuck, of Gainesville; her sister, Patricia Davey, of Harrisburg, Pa.; two brothers, Mellis Tuck Jr. of Touson, Md., and Gerald W. Tuck of Hinesville, Ga.; and by three grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at Parkview Baptist Church in Gainesville with the Rev. Greg Magruder and the Rev. Dr. William Pruitt officiating. Burial will be at Jonesville Cemetery in Newberry, Fla. The family requests any memorials be in the form of contributions to Parkview Baptist Church, General Fund, 3403 NW 13th St., Gainesville, FL 32609. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 23, at Forest Meadows Funeral Home. William Jasper Martin, 87, of Knoxville, formerly of Oak Ridge and Spring City, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Shannondale Health Care Center in Knoxville. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. Mr. Martin was a Chemical engineer and retired from Union Carbide Corp. after over 25 years of service. He was a life member of the Oak Ridge Elks Club. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lena Hays Martin, of Knoxville; his son, William Frederick "Fred" Martin and wife, Karen, of Tallahassee, Fla.; his grandson, Jake Martin, of Tallahassee; and by his sister, Edna Hutton, of Greensboro, N.C. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
