    2. >From The Oak Ridger 4 Feb 2004 Grady LaWhane Ellis, 30, of Oak Ridge, Oda Mae McDonald, of Clinton, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Grady LaWhane Ellis, 30, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004. Born July 23, 1973, in Oak Ridge, he was the son of Grady L. Ellis and Betty Slater James, both of Oak Ridge. He was self-employed. His family said he was a man who wore a variety of "hats" - son, father, brother, uncle and cousin. He was a man of many talents and was loved by all, according to his family. He enjoyed playing basketball, riding motorcycles and four-wheelers. According to his family, he was affectionately known as "G$," "World Wide," "Big Youngster" and "Tripp," and lived life on the edge and to its fullest. He was preceded in death by three grandparents, three uncles and three cousins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ellis is survived by his son, GeQuan LaJai Anderson of Oak Ridge; his brother, Vincent Alfonzo Jamal McMurrin of Phoenix, Ariz.; his sister, Ladeana Shanell Ellis of Oak Ridge; and by a grandmother, Berline Ellis of Clinton. He was also survived by seven aunts, Beulah Love, Frances Slater and husband, Raymond Gray, Shirley Slater and Dorothy Slater, all of Oak Ridge, and Maxine Davidson and husband, Willie, Marcia Barton and husband, Lincoln, Jan Wilson and husband, Jimmie, all of Clinton; five uncles, Willie Slater and wife, Penny, and Charles Ellis and wife, Vercilla, all of Knoxville, Clarence Ellis and wife, Erin, of Junction City, Kan., Cleo Ellis and wife, Faye, of Powell and Bryant Ellis and wife, Dianne, of Clinton; two grandaunts, Hazel Moore and Thressa Atwater, both of Powell; a granduncle, Paul Ellis of Knoxville; his special brother, Shannon Porter of Oak Ridge; special friends, Ebony Anderson, Susanna McCanelly, Erin Young all of Oak Ridge and Shequitha Stewart of Knoxville; and by several nieces, a nephew and many cousins and friends. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Porterfield "Pete" Bradby officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Oda Mae McDonald, of Clinton, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at the Lake City Health Care Center. Her family said she was a Christian and a wife and mother. Mrs. McDonald was a longtime member and Sunday school teacher at Second Baptist Church in Clinton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace McDonald; her parents, Willie and Ozia Cook Duncan; a brother, Alvin Duncan; and by a great-grandson, Mark William Stokes. Mrs. McDonald is survived by two daughters, Naomi Stokes and husband, Charles, of Clinton, and Joan Walters and husband, Richard, of Nashville; a brother, Ervin Duncan, of Knoxville; four grandsons, Trevor Stokes and wife, Teresa, of Knoxville, Kelvin Stokes and wife, Jennifer, and Jason Stokes and wife, Angela, all of Clinton, and Richie Walters of Nashville; three great-grandchildren, Justin Allen Stokes, Kelsea Brynn Stokes and Michael Charles Stokes; an honorary grandson, Craig Clapp; and by many other family and friends. The funeral will be at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Kelvin Stokes, the Rev. George Williams and the Rev. Kenneth Ivey officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton.
