>From the Oak Ridger 10 Feb 2004 Katherine Edwards Bolling, 92, of Oak Ridge, Audra Eileen Chandler, 54, of Coalfield, Euvine Justice, 56, of Oliver Springs, Wilda Minish, 81, of Athens, Jewell Marie Brown Thomas, 81, of Oak Ridge, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Katherine Edwards Bolling, 92, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge. Born April 4, 1911, in Sandy Ridge, Va., she was the daughter of James Wade Edwards and Mazilphia Hillman Edwards. She was one of 11 children. Mrs. Bolling was a graduate of Radford College, returning to her homeland in southwest Virginia to teach children, all during the Depression Era. In this setting, Mrs. Bolling met and married the principal of the school, Connie C. Bolling, where she was teaching. Mr. Bolling moved his family to Oak Ridge in 1943, remaining here to the present. Mrs. Bolling was a charter member of Kern Memorial United Methodist Church. According to her family, she enjoyed church work and was an active participant in the children's program at Kern Methodist. Her family said she considered it her obligation to contribute to the lives of the young, teaching Sunday school there for 22 years. She held offices on the district level in Children's Work. She was one of several women who established and nurtured the church's Women's Society of Christian Service, now the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Bolling served many offices in the organization, including that of president and held district offices in the group. After Mr. Bolling's retirement, the couple traveled extensively in Canada and the United States including Hawaii, all joyous times for them, her family said. According to her family, she was known to be an expert seamstress. Her family said she was a lover and cultivator of flowers, especially wildflowers, of which she had a wide collection. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bolling is survived by her daughter, Sandy Bolling Garrett, of Oak Ridge; and by a sister, Jewell Mabrey, of Columbus, Ohio. Her family said she has been blessed with dozens of nieces and nephews, as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews. She treasured her friends from her church, those in the '43 Club, many in the Oak Ridge Woman's Club, where she was member, her neighbors on Cedar Lane and a score of others making their homes in Oak Ridge, according to her family. Her family said they would like to thank the staff at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge for their loving care and support. The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, Kern Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Mooney and the Rev. Mark Flynn officiating. Jeff Heidle will provide special music, utilizing piano and organ, and emphasizing her life in the past, as well as her life in the present day. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Kern Memorial United Methodist Church organ fund, 451 E. Tennessee Ave., Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Audra Eileen Chandler, 54, of Coalfield, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004. She was a Baptist and her family said she enjoyed life to the fullest. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Alice Gray Chandler; a son, Gregory Allen Jones; two sisters, Helen Rose and Myrtle Solomon; and by two brothers, Billy Jo Chandler and Rothel Chandler. Ms. Chandler is survived a son, Michael Jones and wife, Stacy, of Coalfield; her friend and husband of 38 years, L.C. Jones, of Rockwood; a sister, Barbara True and husband, J.P., of Rockwood; and by seven grandchildren, Felicia Heather Jones, Michael Ray Jones and Laura Lee Jones, all of Rockwood, Jenna Audree Boatwright of Georgia, and Ronnie Trosper, Timmy Trosper and Casey Bradshaw, all of Coalfield. Rick and Rita Weaver of Coalfield were considered special friends. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, in the chapel of Oliver Springs Mortuary with the Rev. Shannon Walls officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Davis Cemetery in Oliver Springs. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Euvine Justice, 56, of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville following a long illness. Born Oct. 22, 1947, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of Tom Kennedy and Lassie Phillips Kennedy, both now deceased. She has lived in the area all of her life. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. According to her family, Mrs. Justice enjoyed quilting, gardening and reading, and was a sports fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eunivee McClure and Eula Faye Kennedy, and by a brother, Charlie Kennedy. Mrs. Justice is survived by her daughter, Paula Henry and husband, Nathan, of Clinton; her son, Michael Justice and wife, Kelli, of Hamilton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alexander, Joshua, Alicia, Jessica and Maryssa; her brother, Jacob Kennedy and wife, Nancy, of Cambridge, Ohio; and by her sister, Eunice Phillips, of Oliver Springs. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Ralph Wilson officiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on Oliver Springs Highway in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Wilda Minish, 81, of Athens, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Athens Regional Medical Center. A native of Commerce, Ga., she was the daughter of Henry Doss and Arrie Zonia Garrison Minish. She was a member of East Athens Baptist Church, where she had been active with the children's ministry. She is survived by two brothers, Henry D. Minish and wife, Vivian, of Oak Ridge and Dr. James Royal Minish and wife, Patsy, of Fort Smith, Ark.; a sister, Mary Sue Minish, of Athens; and by seven nieces and nephews and 13 grandnieces and grandnephews. The funeral will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, in the chapel of Jerry Smith Funeral Home in Athens with the Rev. Pete Mullins officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Athens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Jewell Marie Brown Thomas, 81, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born April 7, 1922, in Mascot, she was the daughter of Lester H. Brown and Evelyn Payne Brown. She was a homemaker and a Presbyterian. Her family said she enjoyed reading and gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan Edward Thomas, and by her sister, June Brown Maner. Mrs. Thomas is survived by three children, Gerald A. Thomas of Oak Ridge, Christopher A. Thomas of Bourg, La., and Carol Ann Thomas of Tupelo, Miss.; four grandchildren, Chuck Thomas, Leslie Thomas Hayes, Rebecca Thomas and Keith Rutledge; and by two brothers, James B. Brown of Newport and Robert Brown of New Jersey.
