Hello everyone! I received this thru a mail list just for us County Coordinators and thought some of you might be interested.... Julie ------------ Disclaimer -- TSLA has nothing to do with this message. It's a personal plea from me as a researcher. If you don't live in Tennessee, please insert your state in place of TN below. I discovered when I was in Nashville at the TN State Library & Archives in the past couple of weeks that several books I've seen references to on-line aren't in the collection there. TSLA has an awesome collection, but it has been hard-hit by the state budget crunches (as have most state and local libraries in the US). If you have published something -- whether it's a 10-page essay on your family or a 1000-page comprehensive survey of county records -- please put TSLA on your list to receive a free copy. Did you know TSLA has a family Bible collection? Send them a photocopy of your family Bible, and it will be added. Have you got issues of a family newsletter that might be of interest to others? Take it to a copy center, have it duplicated, and then donate either the originals or the copies to the State Library. Looking for a place that granny's diary will be preserved for posterity? Keep a photocopy for your family, and put the original in the care of the Manuscripts Collection. They have the facilities to conserve it. Researchers go to the State Library in hopes of having access to everything available in one location. Why not help them achieve their goals?
